Stopped for lunch on a dreary day and were lifted in spirits. The room was crowded but service was great, quick and friendly. The salad choices featured a wide range of ingredients and were very tasty. Coffee was tasty and Fairtrade. Would visit again!

Walked in on a cold morning around 10am and was disappointed to see that the fire had not been lit. Very uninviting. There were a number of cakey items on display at the counter but as none were covered we didn't fancy them so opted for cooked breakfast instead. I've noticed this before on a previous visit in summer. I... More

Lovely little find in Nettlebed. Beautiful salads. I had the salmon fish cake and two salad sides and it was all delicious. Not a huge amount of seating and was very busy the day I was there which, I believe, is normal - always a sign of a good place to eat. After you've eaten you can open the door... More

My first time at The Field Kitchen which I had been meaning to visit for a long time after hearing good reviews from friends. I decided to have the soup of the day which was vegetable, there were lots of chunky vegetables and it was very delicious. The soup was accompanied by soft granary bread. All in all the perfect... This is a unique eating place. The menu won't be found elsewhere and you will find yourself trying to work out which offering you want for fear of missing out on something else. We were popping in for a tea and cake before heading for a walk in the nearby woods. The glutton free brownie was good enough to take... More

A buzzing atmosphere in what looks like an old school house. We called for lunch and had excellent soup served with delicious bread. Service was fast and friendly. Takeaway deli food also available. Best cup of Earl Grey Tea I have had in a long time from a cafe. The salads looked excellent too.

Today we had our first visit to The Field Kitchen for lunch we had often driven past and always remarked how busy their car park looked. The place was very busy with a wonderful atmosphere, all the food on display looked absolutely fantastic it was difficult to decide. I had the steak sandwich and my partner had the hamburger we... Popped in on the way to an appointment nearby. The place was busy and buzzing at 12.30pm. I ordered a huge and tasty croque madam and a hot chocolate. Nice use of a former post office with some artisan bread, cheese and cakes for sale too. I'll pop in again!

The proprietor here was extremely rude and bigoted. It may have been an off day, but it would be better off as a post office on days like this. The food was ok, and this may be an anomaly seeing the general reviews.

Dear Palafour I find your comments bewildering. It seems to be a personal attack aimed at me, for what I have no idea - you don't specify any particular incident. Casting my mind back over the last few days, I wonder - were you the cyclist who wanted to bring his bicycle into the cafe and lean it against a... More
