This used to be one of my favourite places to have a cheeky afternoon pint! But what I saw today is unacceptable! I was enjoying one the American pale ale, this pint was so nice that I ordered another! But what followed was to my horror, another middle aged gentleman walked in and ordered a pint of Harvey's best, the... More

The Talbot serves a fantastic Sunday lunch for a reasonable price. I thoroughly recommend this place in Cuckfield.

Visited tonight with our Doggy and couldn't have had a better welcome. Probably the friendliest place we have ever been, especially with a dog in tow. Thanks to chef for amazing burgers but most of all for the friendly welcome, especially to our Spaniel Archie. We will return!

Average experience only. I asked for a quiet table but was placed in a main thoroughfare. Food was passable but nothing exceptional. Noise of music from other bar. There are better gastro pubs to eat in

Dear Clive T, Thank you for your recent comments and of course sorry you did not enjoy your recent visit to the Talbot. What a lovely place this is. I spent a couple of hours there today having lunch and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The welcome was warm and inviting, immediately putting me at my ease. The starter, mackerel terrine, was a delightful mixture of flavours which were well balanced so no one overwhelmed the others. Also it was served in an interesting sardine... More

We visited the Talbot for lunch. Cuckfield is a quirky place. The Carpark with its disc parking system is a bit odd. But when that's all organised and you walk down to the Talbot you get a pleasant surprise. I think it has a new owner who was very welcoming. The menu was not extensive but it covered all bases... We had a lovely meal in the restaurant. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. We were all travelling from different areas and we had to change the time for the meal twice because of traffic problems but the staff were lovely just told us to relax and let them know when everyone had arrived. Food was plentiful and a... More

This was our first visit to Cuckfield and we were staying nearby for a relaxing weekend. We found The Talbot in the centre of the village sufficiently pleasant to visit it for lunch on two successive days. Many pubs in South East England have undergone makoevers into gastropubs with a veneer of style. The Talbot appears to fall into this... More
