Enjoyed a lovely tapas night last night here with some friends Food was so tasty and excellent value for money Was a real warm and friendly atmosphere in the bar with a good selection of bears and wines. The toffee melt in the middle pie was so lush and a very generous portion Nothing seemed too much trouble Booked for... More

Had tapas here last night with my husband and daughter and I have to say the food was excellent (the homemade ice cream is to die for) and the range of beer was good too. We received a nice warm welcome from the staff and we are already looking forward to going back.

Booked and visited on a Saturday night - they had run out of a number of dishes. What we did have was poor quality and not as described on the menu. Steamed sponge pudding and ice cream - came as left over Christmas pudding and strawberry ice cream. Lots of better pubs in the area.

Our first visit and we hadn't booked in advance, but were made very welcome by the nice young lady behind the bar. A roaring fire and nice cosy atmosphere and we were seated close enough to the fire to stay warm. Ordered 3 of the roast dinners, one chicken one beef and one pork and asked the barmaid to choose... We visited on a cold, winters day at the weekend having booked a late lunchtime slot. We were seated next to a lovely warm fire and enjoyed some very good local beer. The food served here is of trencherman's proportions. The macaroni cheese with pulled pork was delicious and very filling. I had not had this before but one of... More

We had originally booked for 7.00pm but had to phone to put our table back until 8.00. When we arrived we were told to order quickly as the kitchen was closing at 8.30! It's a shame they hadn't mentioned that when we put the time back. Next we're told that the chef is off sick and somebody else is in... More

Arrived on a bustling Saturday afternoon, 21/01/17, had the most fantastic meals, a large party of us, we were told there would be a 30 min wait, in reality it was about 15 minutes. mac, cheese and pulled pork to die for! The home made burgers were also amazing, will return again!

I have visited the Rising sun before, and have found the food good, but under the new management and new chef, I can honestly say, today's lunch was SUPERB! New menus, using very local ingredients and freshly cooked. The steak and stilton pie is to die for. My companion is very picky when it comes to restaurant meals, but he... More

Not very impressed with my meal. Not sure where herb and almond crust on my country chicken was. Sauted pots were more like chips. Hubby did enjoy his steak in red wine sauce on pasta.

Went for Sunday lunch, obviously popular as the car park was pretty full and most tables were occupied (we had reserved a table though). Our party had a mix of carvery and burgers. The portions of the carvery were large and the meat was beautifully cooked. The burgers went down well too and the chips were very hot (and stayed... More
