Visited here after a wet and cold day of visiting abbeys throughout the borders. Had a coffee and carrot cake and my friend had a luxury hot chocolate and dime cake. All in all the food and coffee / hot chocolate was good. Just a shame they close at 4pm

Every time I come here with my Dad the place is busy. Excellent food, very friendly staff and service which is second to none.

Small and cosy with a great range of eatables at competitive prices. Has a large proportion of regulars who have become part of the "Hoot'n Cat" family. Staff are friendly and helpful without being all over you.

Following the signboard near the ruined abbey in Kelso, I made my way around the backstreets of this picturesque border town to the Hoot 'n Cat cafe. It was a cold day and I was glad to find a fine range of homemade soups on offer. I went for the tomato and basil and it was brought to my table... More

I go there twice a week and every time I am treated poorly when I come in. I feel like they are doing me a favour giving me a nice place to sit and have my lunch in my break. Anyway I still go as I want to help local businesses. Today I asked for a soup and salad as... More

Often pop in here for a great lunch, a lovely coffee and cake or in winter a superlative hot chocolate-which with all the trimmings is almost a meal! It has a great buzz with cheery, helpful staff. However for me the icing on the cake is that I have just discovered that well behaved dogs are allowed-they will never get... More

While in Kelso we paid another visit to this establishment after a lovely warm welcome the food that followed went down a treat. We picked the white chocolate and cranberry scones which were nicely fired just to our taste they were so good we did not need any jam. We washed them down with a latte coffee and a blether... More

Found this great cafe by chance signposted from Kelso Abbey. Delicious coffee but the cheese scones were exceptionally delicious and the tray bakes are incredibly corrupting. Well worth a visit..

We were out walking along the river front and decided to get a coffee. We had noticed the Hoot'nCat so we made our way over to it expecting to only get a carryout coffee as we had our dog with us. We were delighted to find out that we could take Mack in. We had a most enjoyable coffee and... More
