I was so pleased to find a vegan restaurant near to where we were staying in Wales. We are from Brighton where there vegans are heavily catered for. However, I can honestly say that this was the best vegan food I have ever had ....Locally sourced and foraged by the owners who are absolutely wonderful . Antonella has the most extraordinary knowledge about foraging and fermenting based on her childhood on a farm in Italy . Her husband ,Luke , is the chef and is incredibly talented and yet not in the least bit pompous or egotistical . It really is quite an extraordinary experience ..not smart or flashy in any way ..no wankiness..just sublime flavours ...love love loveMore

So very many restaurants are so very similar it seems to me. To find a different experience of fine dining is somewhat challenging, but not impossible. I must admit from the off I am not vegan but am a lover of food, innovation, and quality....For my mother's birthday, 13 family members stayed in the local area to Foxglove. We booked out the restaurant to seat all for a private taste sensation and were welcomed with open arms, a very homely and rustic restaurant and two of the most fantastic purveyors of fine food one could imagine. There was some trepidation within the group but all were soon mesmerised by the introduction and explanation of each course, there were 5, and an education, of sorts, in vegan fine dining. Even the wine was incredible and we learned how egg whites are used in the process of making non-vegan wine. Egg whites? Wine? I can't recommend Foxglove highly enough for it's food, atmosphere and owners; owners who go to great lengths to not only welcome but also lead the dinners through the experience, and what an experience. From freshly foraged food to fungi we were unaware existed, Foxglove creates a cornucopia of tastes and textures leaving those consuming dishes, as beautiful as they are delicious, in a whirlwind of adventure, which leaves far behind any thought of meat or concern at the 'vegan' tag. A big thank you from all us Vines to Foxglove and I assure any reader a visit will open your minds, fill your hearts and expand your palets immeasurably. PS - To top it all off dogs are welcome, which as the user of a therapy dog made me feel less imposing and difficult.More

Just the best vegan meal we’ve ever eaten. There were 5 courses, the ingredients for which had been foraged or sourced locally and each was superb in terms of presentation, taste and textures. Our hosts were brilliant and talked us through each course and were...so interesting and informative about the food and life in Barmouth. It really was a truly memorable evening.More

The most beautiful vegan food you will ever experience. Our second visit to Foxglove. You feel at home the moment you enter, especially as our dogs got as much attention. The host and chef are an incredible team, amazing. With like minded people on the...other tables, conversation and laughter flowed. Great atmosphere. Thanks you so much.More

Our experience at Foxglove makes me think I should change all my previous reviews to 4 stars, because this was an absolute 5 star experience. The ambience, the drink options, service and of course the food was spectacular. Our hostess told us all about each...dish, and the work that goes into each plate was just as fantastic to hear about as it was to eat! The atmosphere was unlike anything we have experienced before, we chatted to other patrons as well as our hostess about dogs, the local area and of course the wonderful food. Everyone was so friendly. We brought our dog, something we don’t usually do but we were assured the place was very dog friendly. If anything they were dog-positive! Our girl was spoiled with her own bed and water, and got a good fuss every time our hostess or chef came over. Overall, we had a wonderful evening. We live over the border in Manchester but we have both agreed would make the journey again in a heartbeat. Thank you Foxglove for such a treat. You have something very special here, long may it continue!More

Ridiculously good food and a lovely down to earth couple that own it. The food is beautifully presented and they forage some of their own bits and bobs. Worth following on Instagram. I wish I could eat here weekly as the menu changes regularly. It's...really well priced for what it is.More

One of the best meals I've ever had! A set menu with five courses of inventive and unique food. Proper fine dining but with no pretentiousness at all. The host and chef were really friendly and talked us through all the dishes, where all the...ingredients came from, and where some things had been foraged. It was a really unique experience, with some flavours I've never tasted before. Would definitely come back again, especially because their menu is always changing. 10/10!More

Foxglove offers an outstanding culinary experience. When planning our trip to this area of Wales we selected Barmouth based on wanting to visit this restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. Each of the five courses on the set menu was exquisitely prepared and presented by the...fantastic chef Luke. Multiple elements, colours, textures and complementary flavours making up each of the dishes. Everything is plant-based, much of it foraged, leading to a welcome opportunity to try new, and some previously unheard of, ingredients. Add to this, a cosy, relaxed environment, outstanding bread, a lovely bottle of wine, the added bonus of a slice of Antonella’s carrot cake (an extra treat for the couple of regulars sitting next to us), and being made to feel completely welcomed as friends chatting away long after bedtime! The meal was one of the most memorable of my life, I strongly recommend you book a table if you are in the area.More

What a find! Although largely vegetarian, we wouldn’t normally be drawn to a vegan restaurant. However, given the reviews and the web-site showcasing the owners approach to food using locally sourced and foraged ingredients, we decided to give it a try. So glad we did...- what a taste delight with every mouthful, with so many ingredients packed into each course. Antonella provides the front of house service, explaining each course in detail along with a very warm welcome plus a dose of humour……. So we’d highly recommend the Foxglove both for the outstanding food and the service……A rare treat!More

This was our second visit and we've had the pleasure of eating both the Sunday lunch and the evening taster menu. Every plate that arrives is a work of art and the ingredients just dance on your taste buds. The venue is intimate and cosy...and the hosts are the best! Even if you're not vegan and just love great food then this is the place to try. You eat plants that you never even knew existed, many that are foraged from the surrounding area. It's the best dining experience you'll ever try!!More

Absolutely stunning dining experience. Intimate venue, Antonella is a fantastic host. Well worth the almost 4 hour trip to get there. The food itself was like nothing that we have ever experienced before, completely unique. So exquisite, perfectly balanced, a mix of familiar food and...foraged ingredients. Each course was delicious, amazing, a truly fine dining, Michelin type experience. Thanks so much, we will be back and we firmly recommend.More

Our second visit to this wonderful little restaurant and the experience was once again superb. The food was incredible, the welcome so warm and friendly and the atmosphere so cosy. The couple that run this restaurant do an amazing job at providing their guests, including...their four-legged furry friends, with a delightful evening. Thanks so much; we'll definitely be back again!More
