My husband and I stopped here for lunch while driving back from Lago Oviedo to Santo Domingo. We were the only people in the restaurant when we arrived shortly after 1pm on a Sunday. Service was fine. We ordered hamburgers and beers. Both were made...to order and were tasty. Nothing fancy or extraordinary. Just perfectly acceptable food for a road stop.
I would recommend this place to friends who were need of a meal while driving through Barahona.More
A very nice hotel. Rooms are very rustic with no frills. Especially a fridge is missed, but there is a tv.
Breakfast is nice and very lovely surroundings. Service is friendly.
All in all is you come with an open mind it is a lovely...Pac to spend a few nights.
Key word is quiet... Not a place foot party goers and small childrenMore
This became my go to place for dinner during my week in Barahona. It is beautifully situated overlooking the ocean and has a lovely atmosphere.
The food is rather good although the menu was a bit limited (perhaps that is only a vegetarian perspective though)....It is run by a French family which perhaps explains the francophilic tastes of the menu.
The one meal I ate here which was perhaps not as great, was when a huge group of American missionaries arrived. They were extremely loud and obnoxious, made no attempt to speak Spanish, tried to pay in US dollars, and generally annoyed everyone else there and solidified the stereotype of the rude, ignorant American. However, none of that was the fault of the restaurant and the staff seems just as annoyed by the Americans' presence as the customers.More
We stayed one night on return from Bahia De Las Aguilas. We did not have a reservation and just showed up. Very reasonable price for family of 4. Restaurant was the best we had on our 3 day road trip in this area. Very little...English in this part of the country, but we go by on our bad Spanish. Some employees spoke English. Breakfast was included, but was served later than advertised. Beach was really not useable due to pebbles and large pile of smelly seaweed. Grounds and pool were very nice. Would stay again.More
We came late on Sat night for dinner (7:30) and there were no customers. It was dark so we were not able to enjoy the views. The service was good and great pina coladas. The dinner was 50/50. Two of us ordered Cordon Bleu which...was great. Two others ordered salmon and calamari - not so good. Barely average. Pricey as well. As soon as we walked to our car, all lights went off in the restaurant. Very strange for a Sat night.More
This is my third stay at Playa Azul. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean and there is hot water and air conditioning. The food was not very good this year and the portions were not as generous as the past two years. This...is a quiet place to get away from it all. There is not significant beach area, but the views of the ocean and the mountains are breath taking. The trade winds make it a perfect place to unwind and relax without being too hot. The massages are very good! This year all of the rooms and bathrooms were updated and looked fresh and inviting. You could also request a refrigerator this year and some of the rooms actually had the refrigerators already in place. The bed was just so so. The linens were clean, fresh, and plentiful. The maid service is very good and the ladies are so sweet. Wi-fi was pretty good this year, but still spotty in places on the grounds. Favorite thing to do is to eat meals outdoors under the generous outdoor dining room. The grounds are very clean and plentiful. One can enjoy a run or a walk in safety.More
we had a hotel in Barahona without breakfast. So we came here to have breakfast early in the morning. We had an American and a continental breakfast. There were a lot and we ate. I would like to evaluate the work of waiters. Quickly, correctly....Well done boys! But the main thing here is not the food, stunning views of the sea !!!More
