I live in the area and we eat here several times a year. It's an area favorite. The fish is good. Hush puppies are good. Lots of seating. Family friendly.

Catfish for lunch with the family on Spring break. Good food and great view. I had the Cajun style catfish with coke slaw and fries.

I have eaten her many times and have always been delighted with the meals served. They specialize in catfish dinners and you won't be sorry if you pick that but you won't go wrong with their steaks and prime rib either. This place is popular so it is usually quite busy but don't let that deter you as they are... More

I visited Fred's fish house on a trip through Mountain Home because my husband remembered eating there when he was younger. The service was great, and the food was delicious. I ordered fried catfish, and he ordered a mixture with cajun catfish as well. I enjoyed all of the food, and was happy with the price we paid for the... More

Fred's Fish House seems overrated in my opinion. It's TA rating is #2 out of 80 establishments seems to be quite a stretch. It was our first time to dine there (and likely our last). We just were passing through so possibly this is the best fish in town by default. Further, the service was average at best and the... More

We visited this restaurant for the first time today as new residents. We were excited to try it based on previous reviews. We found the service deplorable and basically non-existent. Grilled walleye was dry, small, and thin. Fried catfish was overdone and dry. We will not be going back.

I had the Cajun catfish. The service was great! The fish was cooked perfectly! Friendly staff! I will be returning.

The first impression as you come into the building is so-so, but when you get in and look through the back windows the view is stunning. Ask to be seated in that area. The wait staff is very friendly. The food was very good. I had the coconut shrimp and my wife had the halibut which was just slightly to... More

Since we live in the area we eat at Fred's quite often. People drive from all around the area to eat at Fred's. The Fried Fish is their specialty. They get it right everytime. They have other things to eat and I have tried several others but you just can't beat their fish, hush puppies and french fries!!

I've had the fried catfish and the Angus steaks. Both are very good. The catfish is better than I've had anywhere else. Sides (Cole Slaw, Hushpuppies, Baked Potato) were also very good. This is my favorite place to eat when travelling to Mountain Home.
