For some time The Muddy Duck has been closed for refurbishment; now reopened, it seems that most of the work has been concentrated on the kitchen (which has been completely reconstructed) while the public areas of the restaurant and bar have enjoyed only a bit...More

I wrote a critical review of the Muddy Duck last year which we had visited several times, when attending the British Grand Prix. After our initial delight at finding such an unusual restaurant tucked away in Hethe, we sadly watched as it lost its way....More

We were a group of 7, with 3 generations and everyone enjoyed it. the beautiful restaurant building was so comfy for a multi generational get together. Food was spectacular, and the wine was superb. We will visit again.

First visit for all 7 of us .... a special evening was completely spoiled by the excessive noise levels. We moved from the bar area to our reserved table as we honestly couldn't hear one another above the din, everyone seemed to be shouting. Unfortunately...More

Hi "afcbrock" Thank you for your question - however, there is no 'secret waiting list', so I'm not sure what you mean by that. We book the restaurant up on a first come first served basis, whether remotely through Book a... More

The Muddy Duck is a pub and restaurant located in the pretty village of Hethe, just north of Bicester. You can’t miss us – we’re slap bang in the beating heart of Hethe, next door to the Church of St. Edmund and St. George and just 4 miles from M40 junction 10. We love that all things British and traditional are making a revival, so whether in the bar or the restaurant, our food is an honest and inspiring blend of time-honoured favourites, with a creative MD twist. No short cuts, no ping-and-ding, no frozen – all fresh and cooked to order. The only thing that comes out of our freezer is our ice-cream and that's made in-house too. Through and through we’re about free-range, high welfare, sustainability, local or British produce if it’s best or at its best – and if not, we’re not ashamed to source from further afield, because quality is what counts. We keep favourite real ales and regularly have a few starring guests too and run an extensive wine list and like to encourage punters to try something different, so our cellar range is particularly good value.
