This place has a charming courtyard garden to drink good tea and contemplate life while in Berkeley. A tad expensive (at $8 for two), and a bit more for the luxury teas ($12), but the experience was worth it. We picked up chocolate chip cookies from the Cheesboard store across the street to eat along with the tea. They have... More

There are MANY choices of tea here - so many that I usually choose their featured special or opt for a lengthy conversation with the server. They always bring the tea with a timer for steeping. Exotic teas, familiar teas, tasty snacks in a beautiful setting removed from the street. Lovely.

Nice outdoor seating, interesting variety of Chinese foods, primarily noodles, which are homemade. Slightly pricy.

Regularly going to this place. It's very nicely located with the little garden, tucked away from the street noise. Any of their dim sums are well worth a bite but my favorites are the shrimp dumplings and pork shao mai. And of course, the classic handpulled noodles. To be traditional, go with the beef! Again, prepared with lots of care.... More

The Hong Kong yellow curry was good; the hand-pulled noodles and teahouse noodles were terrific. And such a lovely spot!

I love coming to the Imperial Tea Court. It's tucked away in a beautiful garden behind the main building. The food is delicious and hearty. The noodles are freshly made and chewy in a good way, not sticky or gummy. There's not a big selection on the menu but I like that. It's a simple menu and everything on it... More

Imperial Tea Court is just doors away from Chez Panisse--and, frankly, I far prefer the former over the latter. My most recent visit was my fourth, and I'm already wondering when I can go back. On this occasion, I introduced a friend to the restaurant at lunchtime. My favorite dish is the hand-pulled noodles. I always order the vegetarian version... More

I have visited the Imperial Tea Court three times over the past 10 years and had the same reaction all three times which is encapsulated in the title of this review. My guess is the Imperial Tea Court is financed by a stream of university people new to the area and dazzled by the setting's high asthetic, not on the... More

Excellent tofu soup, steam buns and green onion pancakes. Also the outdoor seating area was nice and relaxed.

The setting is ideal; very calm and comforting; hidden so you have to work to find; but once there; great !
