I went here with about 10 UCB staff and students. I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo. The pasta was not cooked properly, the sauce had split and there was hair in the food. The place is fairly grotty with lots of bird poop on the seating and unswept floors. Really couldn't recommend this place.

- Pizza is very good. Very close to the pizza in Italy. - Price is also quite good. - Service is rather fast. Step up to the counter, order and wait for your number to come up to pick up your pizza. - Mexican restaurant right next door, so if some in your party want pizza and some want Mexican... More

They offer great food at reasonable prices. My personal favorites are shrimp alfredo, hot wings, and caesars salad. You can't go wrong with those, so if you are first time trying their food, go for it! Other than food, they have spacious tables, and great location for students.

I have been to this place for many years and it is always a good spot to get some good pizza and even better beer. It serves mostly student from the UC campus, but anybody will value the pizza and the possibility to sit outside when the weather cooperates.

I went quite a few times there while I was a postdoc at Berkeley, but would not recommend the place. It is convenient for the people who are located in the North End, and I do not see another pizza place in that area, but I see no other reason to stop by there. Pizzas are quite fat, not very... If you want to capture the flavor of Berkeley, this is the place! The pizzas are great and the ambiance is really fun to experience. I have been eating here for 25 years and I always look forward to my next visit.

La Val's Pizza is one of the few Berkeley staples, and even though it's near campus it's still a great restaurant for adults, families, etc. Pizzas and pastas are excellent (better than most mom and pop shops and chains) and a great value.

La Val's major draw is its convenient location on Euclid Ave on the northside of Cal's campus and near the Graduate Theological Union. It attracts a younger, college-aged crowd who don't require much besides cheap pizza and beer and the owners seem to be all too aware of that. The pizza is good, but not great, certainly not something you... More

I go there for lunch, being very close to my department at UC Berkeley (at the North Gate). It is quite fast (but I usually go late, around 1.30-2.00 p.m) and it has quite good pizzas. No service at table and quite cheap. They often play european soccer games on tv.

I have been going to La Val's since I was 5 (I am 40 now) and always visit when I come to California. The last two times I've been here (2010 and yesterday) it just wasnt very good. The sauce is sweeter than ever and the crust no longer puffs up. Its no longer anything I would go out of... More
