Absolutely the best waffles anywhere. And the atmosphere is great. If you're not ordering a waffle, the portions are small, but everything is carefully prepared. Oh and the spicy mocha is great. Drink it out of a bowl like they do in France.

I've been taken here twice and really enjoyed the food and relaxed ambiance. This time I had a breakfast croissant egg sandwich, fruit, and tea. So good. It's in a nice boutique neighbourhood .

Popped into the Guerilla Cafe, yesterday for a quick breakfast. Had the croissant egg sandwich. It was well cooked, hot and fresh. Lots of young uns sitting over their coffee and lap-tops. A few outside tables available to watch Berkeley walk by.

It's a bit unobtrusive but it seems that the regulars sometimes make it difficult to get a seat. Slightly alternative vibe, friendly service and simple but tasty food (polenta!). Nice for people watching, too. And just a block away from Chez Panisse :).

I was wandering around on Sunday morning (my first stay in Berkeley in many years) looking for a place to get breakfast. There are other (larger) places around but this one has some local color to it. Ordered at the counter and they bring it to you. Poached eggs on pancetta on whole grain toast-eggs not over cooked and very... More

Arrived with family for lunch. Not much room in the cafe but we managed to move two empty tables together after some wrangling with the staff (which was sparse). Grabbed some menus, decided on our orders (menu options also sparse), and waited in line...and waited...finally our turn and after requesting the caprese sandwich, were informed they were out. And the... More

We're so sorry to hear you didn't get a chance to give us a real try! Our cafe is a rather small space and fills up quite a bit for the breakfast rush. Unfortunately, some things on our menu tend to dwindle during that 8-11 AM breakfast stretch. We'll look into how we can prevent that from happening moving forward.... More

Four of us had a delicious breakfast the other day, served quickly and courteously...the waffles with fresh fruit are delicious and not those awful cardboard imitations you get at most places, ditto poached eggs on challah...everything was so good that we got a sandwich to go for lunch -- turkey panini, also fresh and delicious. Even the coffee was rich... More

Anita, glad we could hit the spot for you and your friends! We like to think our waffles are some of the best in the bay, so it makes our day to hear you liked those especially. And you got a sandwich to go? What a compliment. Come back anytime! Best, The Guerilla Cafe More

This is one of my favorite breakfast places in Berkeley. The food is very fresh and prepared with care. They don't have a big menu, but everything is outstanding. Love the poached eggs, the savory polenta and my husband enjoys the croissant sandwiches and the fresh squeezed OJ. Highly recommend. It is small, but we have never waited more than... More
