I went in while waiting for my hotel to be ready and I ordered cranberry juice which came to me heavily watered down. I ordered wings, dry with the sauce on the side and fries. The wings came already hot in the breading, not good. The fries were good along with the service.

We checked in to Creekside Inn after 6 p.m. on a Tuesday evening after a very long 10 hour drive. We asked the desk personnel to recommend somewhere close for dinner. They let us know that most places in Bishop close by 8/8:30 and suggested we try to bowling alley because they have a great variety and the food is very good. We said, "Bowling Alley?" They assured us a lot of people had that reaction, but encouraged us to try. We are so happy that we did. The flat iron steak was one of the best I have ever had, perfectly grilled and smothered in mushrooms, served with fresh asparagus and rice. My husband had the Reuben - his go to meal when it's offered - and he enjoyed it very much. Our only disappointment was that there seemed to be only one wait person; however, other staff delivered the food to table. While the wait person was pleasant, it was obvious that they had a hard time remembering what table needed attention. We sat outside and almost all of the tables were full including two parties of six and eight. So we waited a bit longer than we would have liked and we didn't get checked on (we spilled a drink and did require assistance) as often as we should have, but the excellent food made up for that. We do recommend the Back Alley Bowl and Grill.

Front desk at Creekside hotel recommended the Bowling Alley next door. Good food, had the prime rib special on Friday night was a good value and portions so large it was lunch the 2nd day. Zero atmosphere but food was some of the best in Bishop. Wouldn't recommend the bar while waiting

The rest of the menu might be OK but look out for the desserts. This is a bowling alley and very casual not a 5 star eating establishment. Thinking we might grab a couple pieces of pie to go we stopped here. It was an order at the counter arrangement with 5 or 6 desserts listed on a blackboard. First clue should have been that no prices were posted. Chelsea was very friendly, took our order and returned with a bill for $17. Wow, that's a bit steep but must be some pretty good pie and generous slices. No, on both counts. Pie was OK but nothing special. Most pies are cut into 8 servings. These slices looked about 1/16 and equated to 5 bites. I kid you not. As the shock registered on our faces simultaneously we concluded it must be one of two things. Either California is extremely proud of their desserts or this establishment is trying to make up for Covid business losses one slice at a time.

Because of strong recommendations, we thought we’d give The Back Alley one last try. It was worse than the other two times! “Impossible” you say? Nope! The ahi tuna was barely seared on the outside and the inside of the fish was literally ice cold and almost still frozen!!! It was disgusting. The ribeye everyone raves about? It was tough and more like a tough top sirloin. It wasn’t that it was overcooked; it was a very poor quality steak. Thank goodness the salads and baked potatoes were good. Cocktails were standard and service was ok. Tony B. was a nice server and felt bad about the fish being straight out of the freezer. NEVER AGAIN.

Our hotel host at the Best Western Bishop Lodge told us about this place so we did an early luncheon walk through to check it out and later returned at 4:30 PM for cocktails (full bar) and then dinner. - - - The menu was broad and the prices right, our food was excellent and as time went on this Tuesday evening, the place became busier and busier. It was the GO TOO place as the patrons at the bar said and we can now agree strongly.

I took some friends to the Back Alley Bowl and Grill for drinks. We had a great time and excellent service from Wendy, our waitress. After reviewing the menu we decided to invite other Highpointer friends to join us for dinner the next night. We also got to meet Bucky the manager who offered to locate our group in the quieter back dining room. We ended up with six for dinner, Wendy was our waitress, and we had a great dining experience. Hamburger, Steak, Ahi Tuna, Veggie Burger, Chicken Caesar's were ordered. They were all great! I loved my Ahi Tuna. If you go to Bishop you should definitely consider to the Back Alley and ask for Wendy to be your server.

The town has numerous high end restaurants (Steak, barbecue, Japanese) but every local recommended the bowling alley. Shocked but excited ... it really was excellent. I ordered the ribeye, salad, pineapple upside-down cake and ice cream. All were top notch. The additional shock were the cocktails. They have several specialty drinks. The blackberry margaritas blew me away! Perfect mix and was made with all fresh ingredients ... no mouth puckering prepare mixes here.

Husband had the beer battered cod. 3 lg pieces, slaw and fries. I had the chicken delight sandwich and fries. Both good and leftovers equally good. However our service was not good. We watched other customers as well as those in our server's station who were seated later, served faster than we were. Our server was apologetic--"oh I'll get that right away" and then off to chat with other diners. After 3 instances of feeling ignored, no water, no fries, and then no water refill, food didn't taste as delicious.

What makes you go back to a restaurant time after time? Consistently good food. This restaurant is behind (adjacent? Part of?) the bowling alley in Bishop. It is always full of people because it is such a good value. The chef is really a chef who was at a high end place called Paradise. The quality of the meat and fish is always a cut above and the preparation is spot on. (British for just right). Prices are reasonable. You will leave satisfied, happy you could wander over in your grubbies and really enjoy the food. The service is OK, it’s always busy.

I wrote a review years ago about the dining at the Back Alley Bowl and Grill which was excellent back then. Now seven years later we were back for dinner and I understood it has new owners. We were promptly seated when we arrived at 6:00 pm on a Friday night. Our waiter was Angle and I have to say, he was outstanding! Two of us ordered the Prime Rib and my wife had the Rib Eye. You could cut the Prime with your fork – some of the best I have ever had. My wife raved about her Rib Eye and I tasted it and she was right – Great. The dining room can get noisy but every time I have eaten there it has been outstanding and this was no exception.

Great Service and our meals were great, chicken sandwich and BBQ chicken plate with rice and veggies. I'd add their garlic butter to the rice and you'll thank me. MELANIE our server was very personable.

We have never been disappointed when dining at the Back Alley Bowl Restaurant. All the locals know the quality of food and service they provide. The lobster is among the best in the area. We would highly recommend dining at the Back Alley Bowl.

In Bishop for one night, our hotel recommended. I was worried about going to a bowling alley, but I was very impressed! Everyone was very hospitable and professional. Our server was Amy and she was great! She was busy with multiple tables and made time to ensure each table was well taken care of. Our food was great as well. I would definitely recommend.

Never would have expected a Bowling Alley Restaurant to have food this good. After trying many restaurants in Bishop over the years, finally tried this one. Have eaten here 3 times now and every meal was delicious and a good value. The Atlantic Salmon was prepared perfectly and a generous portion. This restaurant is very popular with the locals. Unlike other restaurants in Bishop it’s not noticeable from the main street through town.
