The staff is taking great COVID precautions. The food is fantastic and prices are reasonable. There is a small dinning room and after the COVID stuff they are only to occupy half of the tables. This allows maybe 6 open tables so it can start to fill up at peak times. The staff went to each table and hand cleaned every section and cleaned each BBQ Sauce container by hand after each table left. They took their time and did a good clean to each table. We need Gluten Free due to Celiac Disease and they had a decent GF menu and out 2 GF family members loved it. This can be hard to find when traveling. This will be our new stop each time were heading to Mammoth.

We stopped for lunch today and were blown away by the Amazing BBQ. My wife had the sampler platter with ribs, brisket, pulled pork, mac-n-cheese and I had the Rack of St. LOUIS ribs with beans and coleslaw. I am a total rib snob, have my own Traegger smoker. This place was amazing. Will make sure we always stop back on trips up to Mammoth. And the music was a special bonus. The service was great and the staff are full of joy to serve and make you feel welcome.

Highway 395 features several opportunities for barbecue as you travel north of Mojave with Holy Smoke in Bishop being one of the standouts and is a place worth stopping for. Read on for details. Located directly across from Schatz bakery, the decor inside holy smoke feels like a saloon. You order from the counter, take your seat and the food is presented shortly later. I opted for the sampler, choosing try tip, chicken and ribs. The try tip was moist, beefy with a touch of oaky smoke… It was very good, not the best I’ve had but something I would go back for. The ribs were the same… Moist, meaty, light touch of smoke but with a heavier bark than I prefer. Very good, but not great. The chicken was dry… If this was representative, I would not get it again. For the side dishes, the baked beans tasted like they were sweetened with orange juice… Not my thing. I paid a couple dollars extra to try the chili… It was More liquid than I like in my chili with less chili and beef then I prefer. The cornbread was moist and sweet and was excellent even without butter. Overall, a satisfying meal, very good but not the best at one that I would return for.

I went to Holy Smoke twice, back to back nights to bring dinner back to my hotel. The first night I got a full rack of ribs, baked mac and cheese and cornbread. The mac and cheese was amazing, the ribs very good and cornbread good too with the provided honey. The only thing missing were utensils and napkins. Would have still scored and excellent rating from me. The second night I ordered half a chicken, double mac and cheese with an expensive, $3.75, square of cornbread as a side. I asked if I could get utensils and napkins, the person said she was surprised those were not included in my last order. I got back, was excited to see my nicely browned exactly half a chicken until I tasted it, terrible. So overdone the meat just disintegrated into mush. I ate the leg, tested the breast and it was just as bad so I threw it away. The mac and cheese was just at great as the night before and while i had napkins, I didn't get any honey for my cornbread. I might still recommend this place but beware, stay clear of the chicken and get the mac and cheese.

Hello Asian tourist coming to this area who are hungry, do not come to this restaurant my family who are Asian and I ( caucasian) of 10 came to this restaurant to eat. We waited in line for a good 15 minutes. When my family and I were finished ordering and paid, the cashier told me we needed to tip her team (like duh 🙄). My Asian husband a military veteran whose served this country for over 22 years was astounded 😮 with how this woman had approached us about tipping her and her team and asked her politely to please repeat what she had said and she said it is a courtesy to tip when you eat at a restaurant and he said okay no worries thank you. We sat down and waited for our food not even five minutes later the cashier rushed over to our table slammed the money that we paid for our meal and said sorry but we cannot serve you all tonight. We got up and left like wtf happened. I am 44 years old and I nor my family have ever been kicked out of a restaurant. SAD PART IS we never did anything wrong and we were not going to argue with someone so ignorant and rude. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. She should not work in this line of work a customer is always right weather right or wrong. If I could do a lower railing then 0 it would be a minus -10. A MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT🤬🤬🤬

My wife and I have eaten at Holy Smoke a few times over the years and always enjoyed it. We recently passed through Bishop just as things were emerging from lockdown and decided to stop for lunch. The people that run this place are so friendly and welcoming and it was so nice to be welcomed in and made to feel at home. It was a nice break and as usual, the BBQ was fantastic. I look forward to our next trip to that area and another meal at Holy Smoke.

Sunday night. 9ish. Near closing time. The available tables are full and there is a steady stream of locals picking up take out. Friendly staff and fantastic Texas style barbecue! Chicken, brisket, pork links, ribs, pulled pork. Dry cooked. Spice it up, slather it up at will. Ice cold beer. Perfect!

The line moved a little slow, but it gave us time to deliberate. We settled on the Sampler, to share, with Brisket, Tri Tip, and Pulled Pork. Upgraded one side to an amazingly delicious baked potato and baked mac n cheese. A good sized slab of corn bread comes with. Everything was delicious. The pork had an authentic rich smoke flavor, the brisket was super tender and the tri tip was tender and full of flavor. The potato is well worth the $1.50 upgrade, but don't miss the mac n cheese! Corn bread was tasty too. Out door dining is a little tight, but there was well spaced room indoors too. BBQ sauce selection on the tables are all delicious, but should be wiped down after each diner. Tables should be sprayed too, but we carry our own bleach wipes. Parking is limited. One way in/ One way out, share the lane at the entrance. Looking forward to my next trip back to Bishop, Ribs are next on the agenda!

Disappointed with the food choices, taste and value. Not much open due to Covid and everything closing early. We visited about 8pm a d they had run out of ribs, cornbread, beans. Hubby had brisket which was a sad 3 slices plus a single slice of white bread. Fortunately the Mac and cheese side was fantastic but at $17 it was poor value. Pulled pork sandwich was ok though.

Stop at Holy Smoke on your way to Mammoth or other points along 365 . Especially fine for lunch - big sandwiches full of moist and tender BBQ steak, pulled pork or tri tip. Enjoy

You know how restaurants are often inconsistent? I've had the pleasure of stopping at Holy Smoke 3 or 4 times over the past few years and they always knock my socks plum off. I've sought the best BBQ in TN. TX, AL, GA, VA, KY and elsewhere. I've had some very good BBQ. Holy Smoke ranks at the top. Pulled pork. Awesome! Ribs. Awesomer! Brisket. Meh Mac & Cheese. Off the flippin chain. I hate to leave a bad review. But, there's another BBQ place about 20 miles south with shiny smokers that's been recommended more than once so, I thought I'd give it a try even though I knew it would be next to impossible to beat Holy Smoke. What a mistake! I can't convey how disappointed me and my woman were that we passed Holy Smoke to give this other place a try yesterday. Not only was their product mediocre at best but, they were out of pulled pork and Coke. I mean, c'mon bro! Send someone to the Piggly Wiggly and pick up some cases of Coke! Anyway, I would gladly drive 50 miles out of my way to visit Holy Smoke and very much regret passing them yesterday. If Holy Smoke would ship their products, I'd place regular orders. I wish i lived closer to Bishop just so I could eat at Holy Smoke more often.

I wish I could rate 4.5 out of 5, they just can’t make a perfect 5. Staff were awesome, knowledgeable and friendly. Wait time was practically zero. Variety was good and flavor was very good. Loved the BBQ sauce options on the tables. Mac n Cheese side was VERY good - so cheesy! Serving sizes were a bit small given the size of the bread roll. Tables could use a tablecloth refresh. Location, parking were great. Restrooms were clean and well stocked. We would go back when traveling through Bishop!

Five of us had dinner on a recent trip to the Eastern Sierras. Despite the restrictions imposed by COVID-19, we had an enjoyable dinner and could eat inside. We had two sampler orders, full rack of ribs order, crisp salad and sides plus the corn bread. We did not try the desserts. Limited choices for wine and beer, but they are served. Prices reasonable. There are four as I remember, different bottles of BBQ sauce on the tables with varying degrees of heat intensity. We had an early dinner to beat the rush.

Excellent pulled pork, ribs and chili. Chili has big chunks of meat. Beans are fantastic and Mac n cheese is to die for - Smokey with a bit of bacon. Can’t wait to come back!

Passed through town and ate dinner here since it was reported to have gluten free options. Great decision! Very good food, and many items can be done gluten free, including meat BBQ dishes, beans, coleslaw, and more. They had a little board up explaining gluten free choices. Good service. Mid range place, roadhouse feel. Would come here again if back in Bishop.
