Our hotel recommended it for pizza. We were crammed into a table and the service was not great, nor was the pizza.

We had a party of 7 and ordered three pizzas. When they came out, one was not what we ordered and when questioned the waitress said "well that's what I heard" and left. We thought she was going to reorder the correct pizza but when she came back without it we asked and she replied "what do you want me... More

Great pizza and fast delivery. My son thought they didn't put much "effort" into it since the toppings were big and not cut up much and the slices were not cut all the way through!. We thought is was good! I especially liked the Thai pizza.

Your son needs an education. Machine cut chemical preserved toppings always look perfect. Just like dog food does. The effort that goes into cutting veggies by hand from fresh bought produce is never as perfect looking. Bigger pieces preserve the texture of the cooked veggies during cooking as our pizza's spend more time in the oven than cracker thin crust pizza.... More

I know this site is TRIP Advisor and I live in Carmel so I am not taking a TRIP. But, travelers do well to consult locals ... and usually do, I think, when they can. So, I want to say a few words about Allegro. I hadn't been there for a few years. On a whim, we thought we'd get... More

We had the clam linguini and were pleasantly surprised. Most of the cream sauce is very thick and overpowering but this one is light enough to allow us to taste the sweetness of the seafood. The meat lover pizza we ordered had so much meat on it. The crust was a bit zoggy though.

We ate in many places for 3 weeks during our trip and this got our worst rating. Someone outside told us the locals recommended it so we mistaking it thought we'd try. Big mistake. The floors were dirty with food left around. The serving staff however were friendly although noticed some dispute going on in and around the kitchen. We... More

So, if you like Brooklyn pizza Allegro pizza will leave you less than satisfied. The crust was good; the sauce was good. But the cheese was Parmesan not mozzarella. Weird. Perhaps other menu items are good since the sauce was ok. The pie was a bit pricey at $26. All in all, thumbs down for take out pizza.

While my husband and daughter had pizza slices that they said were amazing - and very large, I enjoyed one of the best panini sandwiches I've ever had!

The atmosphere was terrific, the Pizza was delicious and Jeano himself added a wonderful dimension to the service. All our group of 23 came away with big smiles!!!

ESTABLISHED IN 1988When we opened Allegro Gourmet Pizzeria in the summer of 1988, we did so for selfish reasons. We craved an authentic Italian experience on the Monterey Peninsula. The days of pizzerias with sawdust covered floors on lower Alvarado Street were gone. As the small fishing village known as Monterey slowly disappeared so did its soul.A few small restaurants still had some of that old feeling but they did not have the food our more traveled palates were beginning to expect. Some had, great food and a great feeling, but were too expensive or trendy to be called “local spots”. We needed a place to go to – a little “tucked away” spot to discuss life, enjoy good food, family and friends…. and still be able to pay our bills on time.So in July of 1988 we set out to capture that elusive dream; the soulful pizzeria that exists in every Italian neighborhood. No big deal, just great food, friends and wine. The kind of place that your feet take you to when your mind is not paying attention. And when you get inside, it feels good…like you are home.Allegro is a place where you can satisfy your Italian soul. Simple, healthy, delicious & unpretentious. Welcome to our little part of Italy. We hope you enjoy your stay . Nina & Jeano
