Right up there with some of the best and I've been to them all! Seafood tower was on point, and Steak was cooked to perfection. Great for biz meetings!

I've been to Castro's numerous times and my experience has been excellent every time. The steaks are remarkably consistent in terms of flavor and preparation. The bone-in ribeye is excellent. The sides are equally well prepared and tasty. The wine selection is excellent. Always look forward to my next visit.

It was my cousin's birthday. We told the waiter. He asked if it was his birthday today. I said in a few days. The waiter said come back again in a few days. It's funny if he wasn't serious. When we finished the meal the manager asked how everything was. I told him about the "birthday incident". The manager said... More

Had the recent opportunity to visit both Mastro's and the Capitol Grille which is across the street in South Coast Plaza. Mastro's is a much slower, dimly lit, elegant place -- date-driven atmosphere. Emphasis on live music. If you want to spend three hours with your significant other, the live music and fantastic food will do it for you here.... More

Old school steakhouse. Recommend bringing headlamp or Night Vision Goggles because it's incredibly dark inside this place. Service was highly professional and prompt. They take a team approach and the activity around my table seemed continuous. Water/wine glasses don't stay empty (or even half-filled for long). Started with shrimp cocktail, sparkling water, and a glass of red wine. The shrimp... More

I was here for an event with around 30 people and so we had a private room which was great. The noise from the restaurant did not affect our event which is not always the case in other restaurants. Service was great and food was excellent. I had the petite filet, which was excellent and petite! We also had a... More

This is a top steakhouse. Start at the bar; great cocktails and friendly bartenders. The wine list is extensive Beautiful atmosphere throughout the restaurant. We had wonderful bone in steaks; shared a filet and a ribeye among four people. Our fifth had shrimp and thoroughly enjoyed them. The meat was perfect. The sides were delicious....Brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes, wild mushrooms... More

For most steak houses, its all about the quality of the beef. When you combine that with a top notch chef, you get Mastros. Always reliable. Done before theater meals, business meals, and the office Christmas party. They have some innovative drinks. Don't miss the bananas foster martini.

Very cool and intimate restaurant, corporate style, superb quality, live music. My wife is super picky and she considers this the best place for steak bar none. There meat is dry aged around 28 days, served on very hot plate, also loved the dungeness crab which is good size, nice size pours of wine, could go every week if budget... More

The meat is incredible, but you pay for it. Great ambiance, good service. The attendants in restrooms are a bit annoying.
