El Zarape is a family owned Mexican restaurant that is full of charm and great dishes. While it is small and you are packed in pretty well, it is because the food and friendly atmosphere makes it a favorite of the locals. The decor is that of a colorful cantina. Come with time to wait on the weekends. It's well... More

This is a small, cozy little family own Mexican Restaurant in Cypress with out of this world Mexican food. It has quite a following, and if you come at peak times, there will be a bit of a wait, but let me tell you, the food is so worth it! Everyone that we have taken there has fallen in love... More

We discovered this restaurant through Trip Advisor. What a find! Great food, delicious, sinful margaritas and friendly obliging staff. Definitely make a trip to this restaurant. It was so good!

My husband and I are always looking for a good Mexican Restaurant and this little hidden gem in the OC was just the ticket! It is very quaint and although we had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated, it was well worth the wait. It's pretty small inside but there are several booths and tables to accommodate enough... All the kids are home from college and first thing they want is El Zarape! Margaritas, guacamole and cerviche appetizers. Doesn't get better than that! Burritos and chile rellanos, tacos, cheese enchiladas, and enchiladas verde. Everything is good!!

El Zarape is a small, neighborhood restaurant. The service and food are good. If you want spicy, true, mexican food, not your place. If you like fresh, non spicy, mexican food, this is the place. Tight seating and always busy at dinner. They don't take reservations so if it is busy you will have to wait quite a while. Be... More

I kept seeing this restaurant and wanted to try it and finally tonight we did. Family-run restaurant right here in Cypress. The margaritas were very strong, the chips and guacamole were very good. chili relleno seemed very authentic and cheese Enchilada Ranchero is very good too.

Everybody loves this place. Not me. Salsa is consistently good but the rest is average. Rather greasy/oily. And they can't seem to make a decent margarita. Is it cheap tequila or cheap mix? I'll go if friends want to, but I wouldn't pick it myself
