We visited Cafe Secret twice while we were visiting in La Jolla. The location is charming with only outdoor seating which is heated if necessary. The service and food was very good. The first time there we both had great empanadas (wonderful crust) with a small side salad for lunch. The wine to accompany it was also great. Th second... More

This is the place to go for great Peruvian food. The spices really add a kick to all the dishes. The fish dishes are outstanding both raw or cooked. The wine list is small but has a number of great wines that pair well with the food. Don't miss dessert. All are great and should be ordered. Prices are a... More

Wonderful Peruvian food. We really enjoy empanadas (beef, chicken, or spinach/chard) for lunch or breakfast. Great ceviche and salads +peruvian specials for dinner. It's way too small and there is no indoor seating, but the food is really great.

If you want to relax and just enjoy your meal this is the place. The restaurant has a limited menu but the selection is very good. The food is amazing and the service is very efficient. The parking area is good and for Del Mar finding parking space can be a big challenge. The Peruvian food here is fantastic and... More

The food here is amazing. I had papas a la huancainaI for an appetizer "delicious!" For the main course I had the Lomita Saltado. This is one of my favorite Peruvian dishes and this is the best I have had! The staff is friendly, they make you feel like part of the family and the service is excellent. In all... More

We stayed at the Secret Garden Hotel adjacent to the Cafe Secret. Included with the hotel is breakfast at the Secret Garden. We enjoyed our breakfast and the staff is very nice. We went back the next night for dinner. It is a Peruvian restaurant with lots of Civiche and tasty dishes. The seating is outside, nice on a summer... More

I have spent much time in Peru since I have family living there. We have also tried several Peruvian restaurants in California. Many are really nouveau Peruvian and are quite expensive and not worth the money. Don't let the name of the restaurant fool you, the food is great and very authentic. All the sauces have just enough aji (hot... More

Fantastic food! I got the macho...a seafood sampler. Fresh local sea bass, plus a half dozen other things. Cheap wine and tapas Tuesday-Thursday evenings too. Outdoor seating. Great staff.

We certainly enjoyed the food. Great pork sandwiches. Enjoyed the outdoor seating and the humming birds. Did not enjoy the fact that people are allowed to bring their dogs without any consideration for people with allergies or how badly the dog's hair was matted or how bad the dog smelled or how loud the dog barked. Leave the dogs at... More

Description
The magic that happens in Cafe Secret's tiny kitchen dates back to the couple's childhood years in Peru, where good food and great company was a part of life. We are full-service restaurant proud to serve homemade authentic Peruvian cuisine. Join us in the heart of Del Mar, San Diego California. Our cozy indoor-outdoor setting, on the street, covered by beautiful bugambilia, resembles side street cafe from a european city. Romatic, quaint with a lot of character. Come and join us for some out of this world flavors.
