Typical diner atmosphere with friendly wait staff and good fish and chips! Not a fancy place but if you want a down home feel then this is the place for you!

We go here every year while picking up our tree in Potrero. But tonight everything was extra good. The fish and hush puppies were especially tasty and the owner made a point of interacting with us telling us the history of foods and giving a block puzzle to solve to recreate the picture. It was a great evening.

My husband and I read an article about Dulzura. What a great treat to find Barrett Junction. We had some of the best fish and chips since visiting the home of fish and chips -- Merry Olde England. Succulent, light and simply delicious. Great stop with lots of memorables. The owner, Leon warm and welcoming. Highly recommend for somewhere different

Service much to be desired, will probably never stop there again, it's the only restaurant on the road in your way to Tecate or San Diego traveling West

So sorry you did not have a better experience, Eddy. We are always striving to improve and we do have our not so great days. I will discuss with the staff so we may improve. And yes, we are the last surviving restaurant in the back country. We have been here for nearly a hundred years now. Same recipes and... More

I have been coming here for YEARS!! The place used to be packed and always busy, mainly for the all you can eat fish fry. When new owners took over, they stopped the all you can eat, but you still got plenty of food. We were there a couple of years ago and what a change. The front part used... More

Thank you so much Kathy for your review. We do have our not so great days. The health department has made some drastic changes to how we cook. So please be patient with us as we adjust. The all you can eat fish fry is now served every day we are open, it did not go away. The pollock is... More

Barrett Cafe has been a staple of the Back Country for generations. The decor keeps you occupied while you wait for your order. The fish fry is a great choice and for what they are famous. A nice stop coming or going from Tecate MX. The breakfast buffet is best when they open but not freshened in a timely manner.... More

You get half way through and it falls apart. Delicious. Love a good sloppy sandwich. :) The cod is deep fried a golden brown, slathered with tartar sauce, lettuce, tomato, and served with fries and slaw. Won't weight you down, but keeps you full. Delicious.

What a funky little place. Very eclectic decorations. But oh man, what good pulled pork!!!! There pulled pork BBQ sandwich was delicious. You could smell the smoke, it must have come out of the smoker that morning. The beans and cole slaw were delicious too! If you're in the back country on 94, stop here. Period

We stopped otw back from Tecate, MX and had $1.00 fish tacos, can't be beat with a stick! Delicious food in a very interesting, rustic setting. We loved it and would recommend making this a must do!
