Went for dinner. We had the Chapli kabob and the Challow beef kabob. Although both were beef, they had different, distinctive flavors. We started with a salad that needed dressing, and were provided with a vinegar and oil mix that helped the very bland veggies. The bread was very dry and hard and appeared to be different from what the... More

I am big fan of Afghan food, and the places I have been to on the East Coast do not compare to Salang Pass. Not only were the staff hospitable and extremely attentive, the food was amazing! The lamb was cooked to perfection, and I wish I could have the rice every day! We tried several different dishes, and each... More

We like the authentic Afghani food available here. A big advantage for us is that for a family where some are vegetarians and some are not, we can get outstanding meals for both. Polite prompt service.

This is very well known restaurant, one of the oldest in Fremont and well known for its excellent food. I love nearly all of their dishes especially the Qabuli Pulao, Challow kabob and Borta. Chapli Kabob is also very good. The entrance is and actually the whole restaurant is very dark and the wooden tables and chairs are OK but... More

I loved every bit of my first attempt at Afghani food. Delicious apps and stews. I had the lamb korma and curry chicken with steamed rice. The taste is very authentic and stands apart from Indian curries I am used to eating. Definitely a worthy experience and will try again the next time I visit the bay area.

We enjoy the tradition of going home to Fremont and taking the family to Solang Pass where we sit on pillows and have a good meal. The food; however, can be inconsistent, but the bolani and mantoo are constantly good. Sometimes the lamb shank and kabobs can be dry and too overcooked, and they are often out of rose ice... More

Being a vegetarian, I prefer Salang Pass to its neighboring restaurant De Afghani since I get more options to eat here. We like to take our friends here to try Afghani food and it has never been disappointing. The service is better too. I like their Bolani, Breads, Salad and main dishes. We always order extra Bolanis since it takes... More
