This is one great spot for a burger. It's rustic and ranch-y and all around cool. The 155 burger should not be missed - burger with smoked bacon, onion ring, Swiss cheese and a tangy BBQ sauce- super good. If you're on your way up or down the mountain, definitely stop for lunch!

We stopped here on our journey from the Pacific Coast to Kernville. The food and service were great and the other diners were a mix of locals and fellow tourists. We sat in the dining room but there was also a bar and outside seating area. Recommend stopping here if you are passing through.

This is a great little burger spot on a twisty road. Rode over from lake Isabella area and was ready to stretch some legs. Dinner was great, service so friendly, garlic fries addicting. Saw several locals in here so you know it's a winner.

Really good sandwiches and salads. Worth the drive. Lots of great western charm. We were happily surprised.

We were driving between Sequoia National Park and Death Valley National Park when we came upon the Saddle Sore Saloon. They have cushions made out of old jeans to soften your seat. The bathroom (ladies) has a hunk with a six pack (photo) and a crazy big sink. I hear the men's room has a lovely lady, as well. Our... More

Dropped in for breakfast while visiting friends. Our bill (including tax and tip) was $42 for four full breakfasts including coffee. Eggs and potatoes were cooked to perfection.Sausage and Bacon were generous portions. Everyone ordered an omelet with different fillings, and included toast or biscuits and gravy. They were very accommodating with "changing up" the fillings. Omelet filings were fresh... More

Like one of the other reviewers, we found the staff particularly accommodating if you wanted something done a bit differently. My burger and my friend's sandwich were both great. And the salad I ordered as an upgrade from fries was fine, too: a generous helping of fresh tomatoes and bell peppers and croutons and such along with crisp greens.

Small restaurant, but inviting. Granite table tops and a faux fireplace. Friendly and accomidatibg servers. I noticed the menu had a hot dog and chili, but no chili dog. I asked the server to put chili on top of my hot dog and she obliged. My lunch was piping hot with a mound if fries in the side. I didn't... More

On a road trip to the mountains above Bakersfield, we stopped at the Saddle Sore Saloon for lunch. Upon suggestion from our waitress, I tried the pork sandwich and my husband had the tri-tip sandwich. Who knew a pork sandwich could leave me craving it ever since! I have never had pork prepared so well between a bun in my... More
