The food is consistently excellent and the service is usually quite good. It's crowded and noisy (but you can also order food to go). Spinach is offered in lieu of pasta, the dipping oil for bread is the best anywhere, chicken dishes are delicious, the arrabiatta pasta, seafood pasta and gorgonzola pasta are outstanding. Allow time to find street parking.
Piatti is a fantabulous place for excellent Italian dining certainly for vegetarians. Their spiced olive oil with bread combo (complimentary) is a prime reason for visiting. Other than that you can try their gnocchi or pastas certainly. The chefs will make sure you go home smiling. Also, the staff is very kid friendly. We've visited Piatti over the years since... More

I always hear from my NJ friends that you can't get good Italian food in the US except for NYC or NJ. Well, excuse me but this chain restaurant has captured the taste and essence of good Italian food here in La Jolla. My veal piccata was fantastic. The ambiance and service was outstanding as well.
Downtown La Jolla. Very nice restaurant, it can get busy. Reservations are a good idea. Food is very good and the bread is really good. I could live of the bread they have there.
A classic Italian restaurant that is a favorite of the locals so you need to get your reservation made early! Request seating in the garden area under the huge tree, it's a treat to enjoy dinner under such a lovely tree. The service is excellent, and some of the specialties that we've enjoyed for 20 years include cavatappi with sausage,... More
Piatti's at the Shores is one of the best Italian restaurants in San Diego, and that's saying something since Little Italy downtown has a lot of them. But Piatti's is elegant and gourmet and has a lovely patio as well as seating in the bar and dining room areas. It is busy so be sure to make a reservation, so... More
Piatti was highly recommended and I loved their gluten free selection. They also had a nice wine list. Nice ambiance and great wait staff. Would go there again.
