Unfortunately we did not have a reservation. Their website said nothing about needing a reservation. This was the last day of the Wine & arts festival. There were plenty of tables available, but all were reserved. I walk with a cane and asked if I...More

This is a fantastic restaurant. Amazing heated patio, lively and buzzing. We ate family style so tried many items on the menu. Everything was delicious. The meatballs ranked near the top with awesome homemade flavour. The arugula salad had s superb dressing. We tried 4...More

Excellent authentic Italian food. Small personal made-to-order restaurant. "Best lasagna I ever had" from our family. Recommend the bruschetta too.

Went with kids for an early dinner. It’s really not my favorite type of place - open air, so it was warm inside, some flies, etc. but they made the best beef lasagna I’ve ever had. Also the bruschetta was quite excellent. Downside is that...More

The food was just so-so. I had the spaghetti and meatballs and hubby had a pizza. The meatballs were good but the marinara wasn't anything special. The sausage and peppers pizza was VERY soggy but the crust was good. No mixed drinks. Only wine and...More

Service was very good, we tried the sangria and didn’t like it (lots of cinnamon in it) and they immediately changed it with no charge. Very friendly and beautiful building and setting. Not a massive choice on the menu but we really enjoyed what we...More

I love linguine and clams in a white wine sauce and Piazza does it exactly right. So many times when I have ordered it in other places, it is either bland or they try to jazz it up and ruin it. Not Piazza, theirs has...More

The location is great, open and closed spaces are available for different weathers. The service is as cosmopolitan as it can get, multi lingual speakers all through the staff. But the food... the pasta is home made by one of the owners (I witnessed the...More

I saw this restaurant 2 years ago and the place looks really nice. Finally, I went today. The environment is amazing, service is super good, and the variety of food is big. Super recommend.

Everything was perfection! Calarari, Pesto Ravioli, Cannelloni, mac & cheese (grandchild), and the Gold Medal for overall was the Linguine & Clams! Homemade Pistachio ice cream and expresso was an unbeatable finale!

PIAZZA 1909 is located in the heart of La Jolla, in a historical cottage house built in 1909. Authentic Italian Restaurant with chef-owner from Milan. Fresh, homemade cuisine, Piazza 1909 blends traditional Italian cuisine to more contemporary unique dishes with love and passion. We take pride on where we source our ingredients. Most of our products are locally farmed and organic. Thin crust Pizza, Pastas made from scratch, fresh Seafood and Meat Entrees, Gluten Friendly (including gluten free Pizza). Focaccia Paninis at lunch and signature salads and exquisite Brunch Menu. Lots of open space for eating "al fresco", including large covered and heated patios, perfect to host groups and private parties, like Rehearsal Dinners and Weddings. The word "Piazza" in Italian refers to an open space in the centre of public life. It is the very core of the community, where everyone gather to observe and be observed. Hands on Cooking Class are offered on a monthly basis. To wrap it up: Good Food/Great Ambiance/Friendly Service. Come to experience your "Piazza" of Italy in San Diego and practice your Italian with us!
