Well, we had a Gift Certificate here, so we ventured out for the night. I used to be the guy who used his expense account and just ordered flippantly the steak and some wine... Well, now, I'm a little different. Older, Wiser... maybe more stringent with the budget. We don't drink. maybe one glass of wine that we share. But... More

A bright sunny day and fresh oysters for lunch. How Parisienne is that! The Left Bank has a truly French vibe reminiscent of Paris ten years ago when it was a softer, more pleasant destination. It being oyster festival season we started with oysters - hot and cold. Delicious. The menu is large and innovative but still featuring firm favorites... More

Dependable, reasonably priced restaurant for faithful locals. Menu of classic French bistro fare (steak frites, French onion soup) enlivened with occasional specials (oyster and wine pairings). Good wine list, if a bit expensive.

I had the Steak Frittes and a salad Verte. We had the combination of foie Gras and cheese for appetizer which was outstanding and ended with 4 desserts that we all shared. we agreed the creme Brulee was the best. The steak was fair, a bit chewy, the salad was simple butter lettuce with dressing. One of us had the... More

Enjoyed a lite late lunch with friends. Ordered salad and French onion soup on this chilly day. Perfect. Will return soon to try the chicken as well as croque madame. Our only disappointments were that they had already taken down the Christmas tree (a friend had told us how festive the restaurant was). Seemed too soon after Christmas for them... More

Why have my wife and I eaten here at least 40 times over the years? 1) The food is solid, more or less Euro bistro style, with a range of entrees covering French influenced homey themes like chicken stew, roast duck, always fresh and good Salade Nicoise, also very good French style soups, refreshingly not over-salted.2) but also with outstanding... Their fixed price Thanksgiving Dinner was way over priced and food was marginal at best. There were three of us and we each ordered a different entree in order to try the three offerings and we were all disappointed. Dessert was a pumpkin pie that looked and tasted like it may have been frozen. Our reservation was late in the... More

I have eaten at the Left Bank on countless occasions over the past 15 or so years. It is one of the few places in Marin that always has steak tartare and many other French standards on the menu. The staff is always friendly and the bartenders always fun to chat with. Over time, there have been some changes to... More

I ordered filet of sole, served on top of shredded brussels sprouts and topped with lemon butter sauce. Generous (I took 1/3 home for next day's dinner) and absolutely delicious. One of my tablemates had the butternut squash ravioli and was disappointed, but she enjoyed her beet salad. Service was very attentive but I felt rushed, as though they were... More
