We visited this small restaurant on our first night in Long Beach. The staff were really friendly and it had a nice atmosphere. The lamb, beef or chicken skewers were delicious, as across our Group we tried all of these. Whilst the meat was awesome,...the selection of food to have with it was limited and the massive mound of rice just seemed a bit bland, some more choice or flavouring alongside the meat would be nice. That said I would certainly go againMore

Wonderful neighborhood Lebanese/Mediterranean restaurant. My favorites include the vegetarian combo, Baba Ghanouj chicken, the "monk" appetizer (eggplant), and the other appetizers. Bring your own wine, free corkage fee. Friendly owner and staff. We walk to the restaurant for our wedding anniversary and most of the...times, my birthday!More

We always enjoy the Mediterranean/Lebanese food here. It is a small neighborhood place with fresh food. Their signature baba ghanouj and hummus are quite good, and I happen to like the garlic sauce served with some of the chicken dishes. (just don't have it if...you plan on being in close contact with or breathing on others. Spouse's favorite is the vegetarian plate. Street parking, a few spaces in rear.More

I ordered the fried cauliflower and a chicken tawok sandwich. I got a plate instead of the sandwich which was fine but it seemed short on chicken. Plenty of rice though. Fried cauliflower was tasty as well Can't complain about getting the plate because it...was a little more expensive then the sandwich. They also give you plenty of pita bread. I will for sure eat here again next time I want some Lebanonese.More

I am sadden to have to write this review since I've been having group dinners at this restaurant for five years but my last group dinner ended on a sour note! The service was excellent so thank you so much Marianna and crew. The food...was just okay this time. Not as good as it had been in the past or at the menu planning dinner. I highly advise you NOT TO GO to this restaurant if you are planning to do an event here and plan to do a prix fixe menu. The owner George agreed to do an all inclusive menu for us, as he's done numerous times in the past, so the food, tip and tax are included for one set price. At the end of the dinner we all got our checks. The owner had added tax, then the server came over and told me the tip was not included. How embarrassing it was for me since I am the coordinator. It truly felt bad for the servers also since half of the group had already left not knowing what had transpired so that meant no tip for them. To me this is dishonest to all of a sudden not honor the agreement we had. We will not be going back there. Lesson learned - always have a signed agreement.More

Small restaurant serving Lebanese kabobs. Lunch Chicken Shawarma ($7.95) was good, as was the appetizer spicy hummus with beef sharama ($16.20). It seemed odd that the appetizer costs more than two lunches...oh well. Meal hit the spot, but wasn't anything above the norm. Parking can...be challenging, some spots in back of restaurant.More

I know nothing about Middle Eastern food but I love Mediterranean and that's what we have here--with hummus. Loved the kebabs, we tried both chicken and beef, both superb. The house red wine was exceptionally good, I would come back just for that.

We were going to the Long Beach Arts Center across the street and decided to have dinner here before the show. Inside very traditional Mediterranean decor, nicely done. We started with some Sauteed potatoes, warm pita bread with Hummus. Must have been good because they...were gone in no time. We then got both chicken and beef shwarma platters and a bottle of wine. Great flavor on both the chicken and beef dinners. Everyone enjoyed the dinner and the play afterwards!More

You would never know by walking by this place how amazing it is. When you walk through the doors you enter a place where you feel like you're not in Long Beach anymore! The server was sweet & friendly and I had a lot of...questions since I didn't know what many of the items where. I got a chicken plate that came with garlic sauce, hummus, it was absolutely delish! The sweet tea was great and everybody loved their lunches. It was a nice retreat from the busy outside world and great mediterranean fare.More

The tea cost $3.75, and there were no free refills. The garlic sauce was thick, not fluffy. The hummus was on the bland side. Everything was very average, and it still cost $17 for lunch. Nothing can compare to my favorite Long Beach restaurant, which...happens to also be Lebanese -- Open Sesame on 2nd Street in Belmont Shore.More

This was a good meal with two growing teenage boys who love good meat. Also eating were my daughter and myself. The boys loved the lamb chops and beef. We loved the Vegetarian dishes. There was plenty of leftovers to eat the next day. This...is definitely a wonderful addition to Long Beach restaurants.More

27 years ago, George catered our wedding. His restaurant at that time was Sahara in Belmont Shore. This Baba Ghanouj continues that tradition of fine cooking. See, I learned this cooking from "Grandma". When I moved to Long Beach, I liked to try Middle Eastern...Restaurants to test them out. When I hit Sahara, I exclaimed, "Just like Grandma made". Without a hesitation I recommend to you if you have not had this food, or are not sure where to recommend, that you come here. This is the BEST version of that Lebanese cookery you can get. It is done right. You will NOT be embarrassed by bringing your Middle Eastern Friends if you worry that they will find the food sub-par. This will become one of your all time favorites. George himself was there on Friday and Saturday nights, and often for lunch. As for vegetarians, Wow. Try the Karnabeet, Fried cauliflower, 100% Vegan. Hummus, of course Falafel, very crispy on the outside, flavorful on the inside. Pickled radish. Fatouch salad with dried pita chips in it. Taboulli is EXCELLENT> Lebni is generous serving. Lentil soup is great. I haven't tried the white bean and garlic, but have made the recipe myself, and assume that it is perfect. One disappointment though, they don't have the pilaf rice with toasted vermicelli pine-nuts, and pomegranate that they served at Sahara. I asked George "Why". He sighed a little, and said, "Nobody understands the dish. They all look at it and say, "What's this stuff", so I just do plain basmati now. Folks. This is a real shame. Please go, and tell him we want the pomegranate pine nut and vermicelli rice!.More
