The dinner at grotto flora was one of the most delicous we had during our visit to europe. The saffron risotto is very popular here. The ambience and hospitality of this place is top class.

Grotto Flora is an old family favorite restaurant. They grill all meat over an open fire, and serve a very tasty wild mushroom risotto with saffron. Flora herself is a very gracious hostess.

The grotto is cozy, yet big as there are many rooms and two beautiful terraces. We just had the risotto and it was amazing, will be back to taste more food as all looked promising. Friendly welcome, German and English spoken.

This is a family-run traditional local "grotto", where the menu offering is pretty much fixed, based mainly on meat that is carefully prepared on the wood driven open fire, practically right in front of your eyes. Comes with fresh salad and gently boiled vegetables and "polenta". Delicous! And make sure you have room left for desert, specially the freshly made... More

Great Service. Excellent rips, salad, wine, polenta, sorbet. Great Value. I have been here a couple times. The service was great. Meats cooked on a hot grill at the entrance. Eclectic welcoming decor reminiscent of a warm grandmothers home inside. Outdoor seating in summer. Excellent grotto option in Lugano.

Very good grilled meats and aperitivo, good local merlot, reasonable prices with an overly decorated interior--there must be over one thousand pieces of glassware on display.

I must apologise for taking so long to write the review for this wonderful place! In July I took my girlfriend to experience the amazing region of Ticino, I had been twice before and I wanted to share the secret. I wanted to stay in Locarno originally as I had stayed at the Baracca Backpackers hostel the first time I... More

I feel bad giving this a low rating because the woman who seemed to run the place was SO wonderful. The rooms were clean, the place was adorable from the outside, and the WiFi worked fine. I'd only recommend staying here if you don't want to leave it. Ever. It is atop a large, steep hill (read: don't think about... More
