Every family member ordered something different: scallops (WAY too salty), pasta with shrimp (so-so), linguine with clams (okay), pasta carbonara (good), pork sandwich (good). Appetizers: arancini (so-so), calamari (good). Desserts--excellent: fruit tart and chocolate souffle. Bill with tip approx. $240. Go for pizza (almost every table around us ordered it) and dessert. Main entrees were middling at best.

Sunday brunch in Bottega Louie - place where you can get anything from coffee and macaroons to wood fired pizzas cooked at the pizza counter to rib eye steak, all depending on your budget. We had Sunday brunch the restaurant was packed with locals ( always a good sign) , food was very good , service a little slow but... More

Beautifully restored building with excellent service and delicious food. Relaxing atmosphere, attentive wait staff ready with recommendations and seamless service. Try the chocolate soufflé for dessert, more than enough for 4 to share and truly decadent!

Birthday party pick by my 19 year old Daughter of the place she wanted to eat. This is a boisterous, popular location that DOES NOT take reservations. We went on a Saturday evening and as we pulled-up to valet parking, there was a line coming out the door; not a good sign. We put in our names and it was... More

Our first trip to L.A. from Ireland and didn't know where to eat! We found Botegga Louie on Grand Venue after reading reviews on Trip Advisor! When we walked into the place there was an amazing display of sweets and desserts! There was a fantastic atmosphere and it was so busy! We had no reservation but that was not a... More

Bottega Louie is a great contemporary Italian restaurant in downtown LA. We arrived around 8pm and the place was a buzz with a diverse group of executives, downtown mid thirties groups, couples and families. It took about 15 minutes for a table on a Friday eve. The host desk is very efficient and friendly. We sat at a table for... More

Prettiest little cafe in crappy little downtown. Big windows, lots of light, pretty pastries, and they had these Argo teas that we loved to get back in Chicago - green tea ginger twist, mmmm mmmmm. I never ate anything here, since I stopped by during a run, but they also do sandwiches and stuff, great place to meet a friend... More

We ate here whilst visiting LA on a girly family trip. A man from the uber service we used recommended this restaurant and we are so glad we listened to his advice. The food was beautiful, i had carbonara which was lovely but the portion size was too big for me. We were told that we could order a chocolate... More

Our time here with Luis, a charming young professional dancer, was a pleasure! Looking forward to seeing him in Wicken when it comes back to Toronto. Pizza was fabulous, caprese salad was world class and the lasagna and sea bass were worth writing about. Best meal in LA!

The food here is just ok. I'm already not a big fan of Italian so I didn't have high expectations. However all of my friends have raved about this place so I was looking forward to changing my mind about Italian food. Unfortunately I found everything to be about average and also very overpriced. The dishes I mildly enjoyed were... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
