Full disclosure: I have never been to Switzerland and make no claim of being an expert on things like bratwurst, fondue, and spaetzle. This restaurant is located on a busy stretch of Victory Blvd in a not so great area of the valley. Thankfully there is valet otherwise street parkingcan be a bit precarious with all of the fast traffic... More

My family went to the Swiss Chef in August 2016 to celebrate a family's Birthday who is from Europe, and loves European food, we all had a wonderful experience and loved the food. Valet parking is recommended and cost $3.50. The restaurant is nicely decorated in old school European style. It honestly looks like many of the restaurants you'll experience... More

If you go there often, the friendly workers will become more and more friendly. If you order the fondu, your mouth will explode with delight. Ladies, don't drop the bread in the fondu, or else you will have to kiss the chef! Fun, enjoyable, tasty place to go. Try it!

Gordon would have suffered serious "rollbacks". Everything was long before prepped or bought in frozen or both, anyways of questionable provenience and age. Not cooking - just microwaved or warmed up other wise. "Creme Brulee" is not some whisked up custard powder. Why do I dare to say that? Because I know the rules and taste of the real things,... Swiss Chef is a very special restaurant. It's the kind of food I grew up on, as my mother was from Salzburg, Austria. The dumplings, creamed spinach and sauerkraut are exactly as my mother made them. The pork shank, which is presented as enough for two people, is basically a roast enough for four people, and very delicious. Chef Ueli... More

It is hard to use words to do justice to the experience that is the Swiss Chef. The food is excellent - and the menu has incredible variety. The cheese fondue is every bit as good as I have had in the alps. The entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights is just plain fun. It is sing-along, tongue-in-cheek entertainment. This... More

I love their appetizer specials. A few of these along with a great glass of wine or a beer and you've got yourself a full meal. I also enjoyed their dinner specials, but I still like the appetizers better. Everyone working there is very very friendly. They have a great following of customers and the regulars are just as friendly... More

Not so many old European foods restaurant left nowadays, so the Swiss Chef is a good find. My wife and I wanted something that we have not had for years, a Swiss Fondue. It was really good, including a splash of liquor (kirschwasser) with the white wine and various cheeses. The chef makes the rounds around the restaurant to make... More

We were part of a large group, about 10 of us, who got together to share a dinner at Swiss Chef in Van Nuys, CA. We loved the menu, which was varied with many good selections. The portions are large, and the chef personally takes great car in their preparation. My husband and I had the Swiss Cheese Fondue, a... More

Great, great, great! The Swiss Chef is always a great dining experience - Chef Ueli, July, Rigo, Fritz and Monique each add a special touch to make sure everything is as you desire. The fondue is amazing and the roasted pork shank simply can't be better. For a larger group, get the pretzel! We try to go as often as... More
