This small bakery called Hygge has got absolutely nothing to do with hygge. Sorry, guys, but for a Dane with 50+ years of experience in the real stuff, this is affronting hygge. In Hygge Bakery they claim to bake traditional Danish pastry. And it kind of looks right, but tastes – hmmmm – not real. As they say on the... More

Got a late invite to a pot luck at work, so I stopped by Hygge Bakery to pick up a cake for the pot luck. This is very close to my work. The selections in the bakery case were very sparse, no prices and no labels. The woman working at the counter seemed clueless. I saw four nice looking cakes... More

On Hope and 11th not far from the Convention Center and the Metro Pico stop. Nice people, open early. Working my way down the list of the tasty comestibles. :-)

Cool little bakery which serves wonderful flaky pastries. Also reflected in the name of the bakery, Danish Danish, delicious! Fun place.

Stopped in for a pastry based on previous review. Pastry not up to same quality as our local suburban bakery in Australia Pastry was a bit dry. Was not tempted to stay in the cafe due to irritating music. Can't say I am a fan.

This is a lovely bakery which serves scrumptious Danish pastries. We were in LA for a week and started each day in this delightful spot

So, if you do come from the "old continent" you know that American continental breakfasts are pretty lame. Luckily for us Hygge is just five minutes from the LA Live Marriott and saved my breakfast. The pastries are really delicious and it's hard to suggest something specific. If you love almonds (I do) you're in heaven. If you don't (my... More

I’ve eaten a lot of “Danish” pastries, so I was excited when a man from Denmark married into our family and suggested Hygge (pronounced approximately Heu-ga) for authentic “Danishes,” even though we had to drive down to LA to get them. I was surprised that what I’d eaten before was flat, limp, and greasy by comparison. Real Danish pastries are... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
