This is more of a eulogy than a review. We had heard that Tlapazola had closed, and drove by today to confirm. Yes, it's true. This was by far the best Oaxacan restaurant on the Westside, and will be missed. The food was always excellent, but the service was what made the place special! Friendly wait staff, who always seemed... More

I have been coming here for last one year I think they have the best Mexican foods around. I always been amazed by the wonderful service and staffs. I specially like their chicken Tostada as well as fish. They always serves you the best and delicious and kind of home made foods. The environment is really friendly and I can... More

No plate goes unfinished here. By far, the best Mexican food in LA, if not the world. No further details needed. If you don't go, more room for me. But you should. Chicken enchiladas are amazing. Fish special is a slam dunk if you want to go lite. You really can't go wrong. I promise you will be licking your... More

Driving around as tourists at night in west LA looking for a place to eat, we noticed this place and decided to try it. There was a loud group outside in the courtyard, but inside it was quiet and nicely set out. In short, we had a very nice meal with a couple of house margeritas, for $55, a good... More

Los Angeles is loaded with Mexican restaurants of every stripe ranging from abominable to sublime. Tlapazola firmly belongs in the latter category. "The Boys" (a set of brothers of identical diminutive height) started out a couple of decades ago in a converted fast-food storefront. They served shockingly (for the surroundings) well-prepared fish dishes. After some years, the place closed down... More

This restaurant might be small ,but REALLY deserves 5 stars. The staff is excellent ,and polite. Anyone who is dining there respects the others, never been loud or noisy. The carne assada is excellent, and their guacamole is beyond fantastic. Everything is clean ,what is very important to me. It will be your favourite casual dining place.

I've been visiting this area for more than 30 years and I've never tried Tiapazola until my last visit. I was a bit skeptical based on the outer appearance but once inside that concern evaporated completely. The staff was wonderful, the margaritas were fantastic and the food was exceptional. We were in LA for 4 nights and I was tempted... More

This was one of my favourite restaurants of our trip. Unpretentious and delicious food, not overblown or oversized - fresh ingredients in simple and original combinations with zesty, tasty flavours. Service was genuine and friendly, with a proper family run atmosphere and the sidecar margaritas were great. Highly recommended!

This is my favorite neighborhood restaurant. Practically incognito in a mini-mall location, Tlapazola serves fresh, original Oaxacan-Mexican food that is unfailingly delicious. My regular dish is the Chicken Tostada. (If you ask them to hold the sour cream it's even healthier.) The other, more traditional dishes such as enchiladas, tacos and chile rellenos are "lighter" and fresher than the typical... More
