Maxwell Cafe has been in the Marina for ages. It is an older place and over the years became popular as a breakfast spot. It was average then, it is terrible now. First, you will wait in line for up to an hour to sit down. The place is small so I would not mind the wait, if the food... More

Was just in LA for a day layover coming back to the states from Europe and met up with a couple friends. We ended up here after being told it was a really cool spot and one of their favorites. It really is pretty sweet, quick service/seating to table, booths, attentive waiter/ress, etc. My only concern is that now only... More

I liked eating breakfast at Maxwell's. The place is nice and clean, and the people are friendly. What I got the first time was their french toast, which I adored. Yummy bread, and you can pay $2 more to get 100% maple syrup. It is really good. Oh, and the coffee is good too. *wink wink*

Spouse and ai met a friend here for brunch. The two of us shared the sundries tomato omelette with sourdough toast and breakfast potatoes. For $10 for two for a homemade omelette, you can't go wrong. Our friend was visiting for the first time and over-ordered even though we advised against it. Had a delicious spinach/Kalamata olive omelette with fruit... More

I've been going to Maxwell's Cafe since the 1980's and have always enjoyed the food. Not the cheapest nor the most expensive, the quality is always top notch and with good portion sizes. The famous garbage omelet is my go to here, either the one with ham or the one with avocado. When I was in grad school at Loyola... More

Enjoyed breakfast at Maxwell's numerous times. Good honest food in a rustic setting on Washington Blvd. Interesting eclectic layout of the resturant. The servers are always pleasant. We've dinned many times on omelettes, pancakes and waffles. Generous portions. Yes the bathrooms are located in an alley ... That's part of the charm. It's a nice place for a weekend brunch... More

Breakfast and lunch only. Great food, great portions and NO B***S***. It is small and bustling. Waiting is outside on the sidewalk.

Breakfast at Maxwell's was really great! I had a breakfast special and it was wonderful, with amazing spices and flavor -- the avocado eggs benedict was yummy, with hash browns -- I also enjoyed the spicy tomato juice. My friend had the veggie burger with fries and coffee, and she really liked that as well. The waiter was great attentive,... More

We walked to Maxwell's Cafe for breakfast before facing the hoards at the local Costco, and had a great, fresh meal with very friendly service. I especially enjoyed the whole wheat waffles with real maple syrup and my husband loved the spiciness of the chicken/cilantro sausage. (He was warned by our waiter and was very pleasantly surprised by the different... More

We've been there several times and every time our expectation were satisfied. The foods are basic American egg-cooked breakfast. If you don;t have any clear idea, please try Garbage Omelette. It is highly recommended.
