Saw this restaurant on diners drive ins and dives. It was just as Guy said. Delicious. I love how the top half of the bun is soaked in au jus. Yum.

Philippe the Original should be on everyone's list as they explore LA. I loved everything about this place starting with the vintage neon sign outside and the fact that they actually have parking. We went twice in one week, both times during the lunch hour...More

We have been here dozens of times but I have never posted a review. Have no idea why not. Anyway, it's the best. We have never ordered anything but a pork double dip sandwich and coleslaw. It's so delicious. Phillippe's is old, old. You order...More

This French Dip is to DIE FOR! They have great deli salads like macaroni and coleslaw. The atmosphere is unique - long tables to share the incredible spicy mustard with locals and tourists alike. A short walk from Union Station, don't miss it!

We accidentally stumbled on this place without knowing anything about the history. We were walking around China Town on our way to meet a tour guide at the Post Office. We were all hungry and my brother-in-law found Philippe was nearby and had good reviews....More

I was not as mesmerized as most people are. The over all nostalgia of the place was nice, but the sandwiches themselves could use more flavor.

Phillipe's has been an LA institution for a long long time. Great French Dip from the place it was born. Get a cheap 5 cent cup of coffee while you're at it.

Whether it's before a Dodger game or "just because" Phillipe's is an LA favorite for roast beef dips (they also offer turkey and other meats). My family lives over 120 miles away and anytime we're in the LA area - Phillipe's is the place to...More

Philippe's is unique. Messy but clean. Crowded but intimate. Simply wonderful freshly roasted meat sandwiches (unless you're a vegetarian). It's the antithesis of fancy but that doesn't mean it lacks dressed up diners. It's fun. If you take friends there who get that cringe look...More

You may not find Philippe in the Zagat guide or ever a Michelin rating, but the roast pork or beef sandwiches are awesome! Before the Dodgers game or a musical event at the Disney Hall, make a stop at this great part of LA! Oh,...More

Yes. Most servings can feed one person, but kids can split servings, especially if they're younger. All meals affordable.

This is not really a place where you would go for "healthy choices". It's a" sawdust on the floor" kind of place.
