We heard of Phillipe on foodtv and travelchannel. We are from out of town and wanted to hit some LA originals and try the original French dip. We weren't disappointed. It was an excellent sandwich. We found street side parking but it looks like they have a small lot. One tip is everyone who is new to there goes to... More

Being from Serbia, meats heaven, my review won't be applicable to most people, as we are here used to all kinds of meat prepared in numerous ways. We were visiting downtown LA and we planned a lunch here due to high TA rating. Didn't expect anything wow, but woooow were huge 3 or 4 lines at lunch time when we... More

Place is very cool With a ton of history. The sandwiches speak for themselves and are awesome. What I really love is that their recipes for slaw and potato salad are almost spot on my grandmothers depression era recipes. It's like being in her kitchen again. Great for lunch and actually easy to get to in downtown LA

The restaurant was recommended by a friend and it was great. I had the pork dip sandwich. The juice was on the sandwich and the sandwich and the coleslaw were both delicious!

Heard a lot about this place and made it a point to have lunch here when we were in town. Convenient parking lot. Long line that moved fast...know what you want to order when you get to the counter. Ordered the roast beef sandwiches with double dip bread and decided to split a pastrami with my friend. Enjoyed the roast... More

It does not get any better than this!! Hands down this is the best place to get a French Dip. Awesome beef dip sandwich, awesome potato salad and awesome apple pie! Their pastrami dip is on point too!!! Simply the best!! I strong suggest reading their website which explains this restaurant best. I could not have described it better so... More

This place has a long history, coffee was 5 cents until the 80's. I'd say the lamb with blue cheese is my favorite, but it's not suffering to have the chili or the beef stew. Both are honest versions, and cheap. The mustard is the best mustard in Los Angeles. Lots of free parking and close to freeway ramps make... More

We tried Philippe The Original on recommendation from our local friends and it was fantastic, relatively cheap prices, great tasting sandwiches and a unique dining area. I would not go out of my way to eat here but if your anywhere near the area its a great place for lunch !!

Very popular place especially before Dodger games. Even on the rainiest day in LA in 6 years, the line was healthy. My boyfriend ordered us 3 sandwiches because I KNOW he wanted to take one home. They have a wide variety of sandwiches but best known for the French Dips. Casual interior, sawdust on the floor, long tables with stools.... More

Great French dip - beef, pork, and others. The desserts are also great - banana cream, coconut cream, chocolate cream and many more.
