Perfect location a block from Crypto center ( LA Live ) Its been a while and I was really looking forward to steak tartare - It was good but not amazing . Good wine list and attentive service . Salmon and risotto was fabulous, as...was the garlic shrimp entrée . Sever suggested adding linguine as there were only 6 shrimp on a plate. However the 6 arrived and were huge , butterflyed in a delightful garlic butter sauce. The 25 cents of linguine was very good but not necessary or worth the $16 upcharge . Loved the historic setting and atmosphere . Would definitely go back.More

Severely understaffed, took over an hour to get our first drink. Food was awful. Have never sent back food in my life and had to several times. Tonight the oysters were tepid warm and after tasting one, none of my group wouldn’t eat another. The...Calamari was at best frozen food microwaved. Finally got to order mains about an hour and half after arriving. My medium chefs selection steak turned up beyond well done. Sent it back, came back raw. Sent it back came back the right color but was the toughest steak I have ever tasted in my life. This place shouldn’t be in business. Go elsewhere. No offense to the stretched wait staff - they seemed run off their feet, but their best efforts couldn’t rescue this abysmal meal. For an establishment that serves food, this place is probably their worst place I have ever eaten in my life. Avoid.More

Went to celebrate my mother in law’s birthday. The server was nice, but then when we ordered we waited almost 1.5hrs to get our food. My nephew is 5 and I asked them to bring out his food if it’s ready because we had already...waited an hour, and they only brought out half of what was ordered. They went and got the second half of His order about 10 mins later and then still charged us for it. My husband and I ordered the lobster and steak....it was the worst lobster I had ever eaten And I love lobster. No flavor, no garlic butter or any sauce (just melted butter) and it wasn’t cooked properly. I didn’t even eat half of it. The steaks were undercooked and all fat, again no flavor whatsoever. The side of 3 cheese potatoes had no flavor and tasted undercooked. Our meals cost almost $400. It was very disappointing and not a place I would ever go to again or recommend.More

Had a quick dinner here on a Saturday night while visiting LA for a convention. It is very close and within walking distance to the convention center/ staples stadium. The menu is typical for a steakhouse, although I found it limited if you do not...want steak. The dining room is a large open room that was rather noisy, although not unbearable. Service and food were good, albeit nothing exceptional. My spouse had a tender filet with lobster truffle butter. It was cooked perfectly and was very very tasty. I was not in the mood fo steak, so I tried a pasta dish with crab meat and spinach in a light lemon-butter sauce. It was ok, but I would definitely advise sticking with steak in this steakhouse! We had a pumpkin creme brûlée for dessert that was good, but it was served at too cold a temperature—flambé on the top but very cold in the middle. Overall The Palm is not bad if craving a good steak while in LA, but there are better restaurants and steakhouses in the area.More

As expected, the dining area was full (it was Vday night and I didn't make any reservations) so I was offered a seat at the bar, which is high table bar stool type that I hate, especially when I’m in a skirt. Bar stools are...just not short-people-friendly. Ordered a lobster bisque for starters. The soup was rich and creamy, well worth the buck. The Fillet Mignon was good too, a lean thick cut yet still tender and flavourful. The Grilled Asparagus were overdone and too soggy though. Service was excellent without saying and obviously pricey. Nice option for special occasions though.More

Superb in every way... We arrived a bit early for our pre-game reservation and were seated immediately. Server was attentive, but not over the top. It was busy early on a Lakers game night. Steaks were prepared perfectly. The two sides were enormous, even for...two people. A shared dessert was perfect. Love the vibe at The Palm.More

Atmosphere-excellent! Cocktails-great (2 rye manhattans with large cubes Wine-middle of road but likely i chose inappropriately; not waiter's fault. Food (2 NY Strips and a filet plus asparagus and brussel sprouts-excellent Service-very strong other than the star-deducted because waiter never told us the appetizer special...we chose was close to $70!!! The apps on the menu were $10-$20, as i remember. Who would think one of their special apps for the night would be minimum 3x those on the menu? It put a damper on an otherwise special evening.More

Visiting from New Orleans, we were referred to The Palm for fine dining by the Concierge for Hotel Intercontinental Los Angeles Downtown, First, we were welcomed and treated royally by our fantastic server, Jessica. The oak room and white-tablecloth seating create a delightful atmosphere; craft...cocktails were superb, the wine list was extensive, and the food offerings of steak, seafood and Italian will satisfy any palate. Thank you for a wonderful evening! The Palm was everything we were seeking for fine dining in Downtown Los Angeles.More

Unfortunately, our server was simply unhelpful, and annoyed. I understand that our party had a lot of questions because we had a vegetarian, some who are kosher, and one who eats anything. We also had time constraints. All that said, his frustration should not have...come out in his tone and we should not have had to ask several times for our drinks. The restaurant was in fact empty when we arrived.. Food was ok, very pricey. Wouldn’t go back. At least to this occasion.More

I spent over $700 on a mediocre dinner. Lobster was great. Apps were great. The Wine was way overpriced. One steak was overcooked and cold. Vegetables were basically raw and tasteless. Not near what i expect from the Palm.

Good overall. We were 15 minutes late due to construction and LADOT's misguided road diet efforts to destroy capacity on downtown streets, but still seated immediately, which I appreciated. I don't remember previous visits to the Palm being quite this loud. If I feel like...shouting to be heard, I normally go to the Water Grill. There was a problem with one entree. It was dropped in the kitchen, and had to be started over, but the staff made haste. The quality of the food once it arrived was excellent. I went with the lamb chops to save a few calories, which were listed on the menu. I asked for the lamb well done and got it well done, which is unusual anywhere. The server was amusing and friendly, but scarce for extended periods. They comped us a free Manhattan (my third of the evening, they were tasty, and absorbed the calories I conserved by going with the lamb chops over the New York steak) to make up for late arrival of the entree. The prices are a little high for what you get, but we knew that going in, so I am not inclined to complain about it.More
