Tried this for the first time as I purchased a Groupon.... Our waitress, Maria, was very sweet however the service in general could be better.....training is necessary. The bus boy was running around, but not efficient, cleared half the dishes, failed to wipe or crumb the table. Know this is not a five star restaurant, but small improvements could make... More

Monte Alban has four different mole sauces, all delicious. The restaurant's two rooms are festively decorated with Mexican folkloric murals and are very pleasant. Service is good, and food is very very good. It was the favorite place of "foodie" friends of mine who lived in Santa Monica, and I'm glad they introduced me to it. Very nice Oaxacan food,... More

Hubby was craving Mexican food and I had bookedmarked this restaurant given all the great yelp reviews and yelp did not disappoint. I ordered the Volcan Oaxaqueo (Molcajete Grill) and since I'm a wimpy spicy eater, I asked for mild which I was so glad that was an option. The dish came in this big bowl all sizzling with the... On our way to the hotel we were looking for a place for dinner we were tired and wanted to eat at the first one we saw and we stopped by this place and at first we were skeptical cause there were no cars and it seemed empty but we decided to give it a try and we were not... More

Oh my gosh! The food here is incredible! Authentic Oaxacan food is hard to come by. I live in Seattle and have never had anything this good. I'm spoiled now. Nothing will compare. Our server, Jenny, was awesome. Friendly, attentive, and helpful. Prices were more than reasonable. Can't wait to eat here again.

Horrible service, they sit you and forget about you. I ordered mole verde and it usually comes with pork but they do it with chicken breast as well and the server just assumed that I wanted with chicken without asking. No water, no utensils, nor napkins. I had to ask multiple times. The place is pleasant but with that service,... More

Dinner out as a couple and we were very pleased with the interesting menu selections, food quality, drink selection and ambiance. This is a real local place, enhanced by the many Oaxaca region regulars who eat at this wonderful establishment. This is not your typical TexMex joint, this is authentic, regional cuisine including delightfully prepared dishes. The prices are very... More

I found this place very good and i consider that the food served is really authentic from Oaxaca region which, even though is still Mexico, it really differs from the rest of Mexico. I totally recommend this place, the Queso Fundido Zapoteca is one of my favorites and of course Clayuda Mix is a must (they even have grasshoppers!)

The Friday before Thanksgiving was cold and damp for a Hawaiian Wahine. I went into this restaurant not knowing what I wanted. The owner, a delightful woman, greeted me like family and suggested I sit down and look at the menu. She then suggested her "special" coffee...hot and flavored with vanilla, cinnamon, and other delights that was so warming and... More

Step into the door and you are magically transplaced to uncharted territory. OMG calling this a Mexican restaurant is a disservice. A huge menu 80% mystery ethnic items. I found this in a guide to hole in the wall lunch counters in LA and I always go there when in LA. The Barbacoa, goat stew is beyond heavenly. I have... More
