We stayed in the hotel opposite - it’s on a busy junction rather than the trendy streets - don’t let that out you off. Seriously, better than the Good Earth - but half the price! We are trying different Chinese Restaurants in the area. Thought we had eaten here before, and we realized we had - many years ago before it was this restaurant! We had the Family dinner. The won ton soup was one of the best we have...ever had. My husband enjoyed the egg rolls, and the prawns were fine. Nothing extra special but ok. The pork fried rice was missing something. It was edible but bland. The sweet and sour pork was not good at all. Very overcooked but I am still not sure there was actually pork in it. But my oh my, the cashew chicken was scrumptious with the most delicious mushrooms. We will definitely go back again for the soup and the cashew chicken!More
If you like Chinese food that uses fresh and high quality ingredients, The Great Wall Restaurant is MOST DEFINITELY your place in Monterey. Consistently great over the years. While we have never traveled to China to compare for authenticity, we are familiar with good food...in this genre of restaurant in California. Enjoying fresh ingredients is always the expectation when dining out. We ordered the Mushu Pork, Generals Chicken, and pot stickers. All of it was light and tasty. We were not weighed down with old veggies or yesterday’s oil. They deliver, or you can pick up. Whichever acquisition style you choose, select The Great Wall when in Monterey, CA.More

I read the great reviews on Trip Advisor and I have seen this restaurant there for many years so figured it must be good. Wrong. This place serves some of the very worst Chines food I have ever had. Its American style not Chinese, and...if you know the difference you will not want to eat here.More
We stopped there by chance and loved it. We went back on another night too and ordered the same entree as before. We loved it.
we stayed in Days Inn motel, just a few steps away from this restaurant and during our 2nd day we had dinner here and ordered some real ffod like fried rice, orange chicken, crab and shrimp siomai, and soup and it didnt dissapoint.
The food is very good, and the service is speedy. Clean facility. We eat here every time we're in Monterey.
This restaurant is across the street from my hotel during my stay to the Monterey area. We ordered some typical Chinese chicken vegetable and broccoli beef dishes. The chicken dish was okay but the beef dishes were just too sweat not typical of traditional Cantonese...or Mandarin preparation. We did not explore their dishes further after our first dinner there. The portion was not big too so we do not recommend this restaurant based on price, quantity or quality.More
My husband and I often dine here for dinner when we are in Monterey. The Szechuan and Mandarin cuisine is delicious! The service is fast and efficient. It is quiet enough to carry on a conversation. The extensive menu is categorized by appetizers, soup, egg...foo young, clay pot, pork, chicken, seafood, beef, duck, chow mein and chow fun, fried rice, noodles and fun noodles soup, and vegetarian plates. They also serve beer and wine. Hot tea is 95 cents per person. We have tried a number of their dishes, but this visit we opted for appetizers for take out. We ordered their barbecued spareribs, egg rolls, fried calamari, pot stickers and house chicken salad. All were yummy! The restaurant is very family friendly. They are open 7 days a week, but their special lunch menu is only available Monday to Friday. There is a large parking lot next to the restaurant.More

My husband and I had a late dinner at Great Wall. We had been there before and knew we could get delicious Chinese food. As always, we ordered their wor won ton soup. Delicious broth with won tons, vegetables and char shu pork with shrimp....We also like their calamari, beef with asparagus, and mu shu pork wraps. The service is efficient. It is very family friendly with the train running around the ceiling of the restaurant. It is a great place for a family celebration.More
Frequently visit during family get togethers for lunch. Service is very good as well as quickness in our orders. Family favorites are fried eggplant, walnut prawns, Mongolian beef, chow mein and Chinese chicken salad.
My husband and I dined at the Great Wall for dinner. The restaurant serves Szechuan and Mandarin cuisine. We went early, arriving at 5:30. The servers wete friendly and very efficient. We ordered the fried calamari as an appetizer. It arrived hot, flavorful and done...to perfection. It came with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. For dinner we ordered The Great Wall Dinner, $22.80 per person, which translated to plenty of food for two! In fact, we ended up bringing most of it home because we could not eat it all! We had the wonton soup but were given a choice of seafood, sizzling rice or hot and sour. The appetizers were a combo of egg roll, fried prawns, and BBQ spareribs. We opted for the BBQ pork fried rice but could have also selected the vegetable fried rice or chow main, steamed rice or brown rice. For entrees, we each selected one out of the 13 available. My husband chose the Kung Pao beef, chicken and shrimp. I opted for the 3 ingredients seafood of shrimp, squid and scallops. It was all so delicious! Seated next to us was a young couple with a 14 month old who seemed to be enjoying his dinner, too! It is very family oriented.More
