A group of us decided we wanted fish while we were in Monterey at a bridge tournament. I just wanted fresh fish but when I looked at the menu they had sanddabs -- something I hadn't had for years as most places consider them too much work to prepare. I was not disappointed! The sanddabs were fresh and almost melted... More

Not only is the food fabulous but the atmosphere is extremely inviting both day and night. At night you have a beautiful view of the boat lights and city lights. During the day you have the beautiful view of the ocean. Any room is ideal to be in for lunch or dinner.

We had a delicious, well priced dinner. Seated by the window overlooking the bay. Service attentive without being intrusive. Restaurant was quiet, unlike so many noisy spots where it's difficult to hear. If I lived there I'd eat here regularly.

We've been to Carmel and Monterey many times and decided to visit the Fisherman's Wharf this day. We decided to go someplace that we have never been on the wharf. After going in and finding this great interior with terrific smells, we sat at the bar area and had a drink. After a short stay, this gentleman came in and... More

In my opinion this is not only the best chowder on the wharf, it is the best in California. I've been coming here for over 25 years. Sometimes only once every 2 years, but I've never been disappointed. The service is top notch. It is fine dining and can be expensive, but it doesn't have to be. We'll split an... More

Fisherman's Grotto is my "go to" place anytime I'm at the wharf, and I'm a local. Every waiter and waitress is attentive, but not overly so. The artichoke and calamari are the best appetizers - I could make a meal of just those, including the delicious breads that are served! I have not found a clam chowder that I enjoy... More

My wife and I were not really starving and just had some clam chowder. I was a cold december afternoon and the chowder hit the spot.

Look from the outside and you think this place is a small cafe type dining but inside it looks different. You want a nice fine dining romantic dining for a date this is a place to go. Great food and very romantic. Took my love and was very impressed.

My date and I had every intention of eating here based upon the reviews that we read. But when we got to the restaurant and saw this sign (there are actually three of them just to be sure it is seen!) I wouldn't even walk in the door. I didn't have my kids with me, but as a parent, I... More

This is a lunch review. There was no crowd when we were there, so we were seated immediately and waited upon and served in a timely fashion. My wife gave both her Clam Chowder and Fish Salad a "B+." She said if we had been in El Paso or Phoenix she would have been delighted, but, frankly, we have had... More
