I think maybe if you are German this is an OK place but if not it freaks you out a bit. Our waiter while not unpleasant just had an unfortunate way, very cold and unnerving. (a bit Adams Family) There was little clic of staff...More

Food was good we went for breakfast .... We thought coffee was included in it but they charged $3 per cup .which was expensive considering Starbucks cost same.little too much for regular brewed coffee

The pizza and clam chowder were excellent and the view of the Monterey Bay was beautiful while we ate! Staff was very friendly and service was vey good. The pizza was made almost exactly as we had had in Italy.... very authentic!

Cozy little German spot. I can't believe it has any bad reviews at all. Everyone at the table ate every bit of food on their plate. I suggest the eggs Benedict (homemade holandaise, yum!) or the banana - pecan french toast casserole (wow!)

We had a great time at breakfast this morning and so did everyone else at the restaurant. No idea where all the issues came from previously as our food and service were both excellent. I am a pancake fanatic, especially the various kinds of apple....More

Quite possibly the worst breakfast I have ever eaten. Service so bad, it actually made us laugh, which was nice. No training or communication between the staff and the kitchen.

Warm and friendly Chef Uwe makes sure that you enjoy your dining experience. Food is authentic and plentiful. I enjoyed the Italian menu and my wife couldn't resist the German food---especially the potatoe pancakes. We will return whenever we're in Monterey.

Santa Lucia Cafe is the only restaurant in the peninsula providing a German Cuisine with an Italian twist. Thin crusted pizzas baked in an oak wood fired brick oven are hard to find these days and Santa Lucia Cafe has definitely built its reputation for it over the past 15 years. It has the best German beer selection on tap and authentic German & Italian home cooking with anything from Wiener Schnitzel or Sauerbraten (sweet & sour beef roast) with red cabbage or Potato Pancakes to traditional Italian dishes like Veal Picatta, Spinach Ravioli or Mom's Lasagna giving its menu a broad selection for everybody's liking. Just a few blocks from the Monterey Marriott and Conference Center, Santa Lucia Cafe is the ideal venue for private parties, events, or a quiet dinner experience.
