My friend recommended this place, having eaten here at night and that it was a short walk from the 19th BART station. He read that it was participating in Oakland Restaurant Week and we decided to check it out last Saturday. Coincidentally, I made reservations on the same day as the Women's March. As we were riding the train to... More

Pican has become my go to Soul Food spot whenever I visit the Bay Area. It has a great upscale vibe. The fried chicken with the honey truffle is amazing. The mac and cheese is fantastic too!

Just left from having lunch today, the pecan fried oyster po boy sandwich. Just remarkable the sophistication that is infused with the southern hearty and flavorful food! My favorite Burbon Bar, Bartenders, Restaurant, and overall culinary experience in the Entire Bay Area!

My wife and I had a terrific meal at Pican, which is best described as an upscale soul food restaurant near downtown Oakland. Situated in a magnificently restored building that retains its early-1900s charm, this gem produces spectacularly tasting food. I had the "gator gumbo" (which, unfortunately had no gator in it but tasted wonderful nonetheless) and my wife enjoyed... More

We were a party of six for cocktails and dinner. This place was busy. I am glad we had a reservation for 6:00pm. I liked the large space and decor. I had a excellent view of the kitchen and the service was attentive. The food was just alright. My crab dip was excellent but the smoked gouda mac & cheese... More

Frankly, I should have checked the Yelp reviews before visiting. Evidently, many guests had similar experiences. First, parking is difficult and very expensive. We had an early reservation and the restaurant wasn't busy. I was greeted by a charming host and brought to the table. Things started going downhill when we waited a long, long time to order. The food... More

Our friends and family celebrated a birthday here. The food was excellent, the service was superb. There is a parking lot across the street that has a flat rate of $10.00 for weekends. The private room for the party was comfortable and lovely. The portion size of the entree was great. The smoked gouda mac n' cheese that accompanied the Southern... More

While visiting San Francisco we took an Uber to Oakland to try out this restaurant. It was well worth the short ride across the bridge. Friendly staff, beautiful atmosphere, and good food. We didn't get anything from the bar, so I can't comment on the drinks. But the fried chicken was delicious. It is a big portion so you may... More

I visited on Saturday, 10/1/16 during the Brunch/Lunch Hour. No hostess at the door, sat myself at the bar, The server/bartender had to be asked her name. The TV's did not work. They played 80's pop music, which I thought was odd for sucha classy restaurant. I ordered the Fried Chicken Benedict it was tasty but the service was lacking.... More
