Oldie bur goody stuff going on here. It's like walking back into a posh 1960s country club/premier dining establishment. Seating outside is in a veritable jungle, private little pads surrounded by bamboo, water, and cool flora. The food, awesome, presentation pretty good, and the prices-just where they should be for the experience and the eats. This is a definite do... More

The staff was very friendly, attentive, and really went above and beyond. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. The scallop appetizer was cooked perfectly, the salad was refreshing, the filet mignon melted in my mouth, and the trio of desserts was delightful. It was practically a perfect dinner. The only thing that could have been improved was the gazpacho. It was... More

Here are my tips for the management of this once great restaurant: 1. Your scallops are excellent, so as an appetizer serve three, not one, even if you have to flatten some fat ones to make the margin come out right for you. 2. Forget the 70s half shell and use a plain white plate. 3. Forget the rice and... More

My husband & I have been coming here about every 6 months for the past 4 years. The food and service are amazing. The bamboo garden you are surrounded by feels like you are on a special vacation. They recently changed the menu to a prix fix if either 3 selections for $45, or 5 for $55. Choices are beautiful.

The mystique is fading quickly. Still a romantic hideaway with efforts at preparing fresh local foods, the process has been compromised and the menu is jaded. Worth a once in a year trip just to sit on the patio and enjoy the al fresco dining experience when the weather is warm. At our last experience the appetizer scallop was nice... More

Went on a Travelzoo voucher. Pleasantly surprised they had a full bar. The food was delicious except for my seabass. I was very disappointed, it was dry and smothered in what I describe as tomato paste. But my husbands filet mignon was amazing. The server did offer to replace my fish, but I declined. Very busy for Thursday evening, staff... More

We were greeted right away, and chose to sit outside. The tables are all shaded and in a large and spectacular garden! The wait staff was friendly and attentive and knowledgable about the menu and the wine list. I loved my steak!

There is a Krishnamurti portrait by the door...attesting to its foundation in fresh vegetarian meals way before its time. It was a destination restaurant...where folks came up from LA to experience a serene, delicious, unique meal. Now there is a piano bar...and they serve steaks. Need I say more.

We've loved this restaurant in the past, but its been a while. Went again recently and were utterly charmed by the setting: as a party of 5 we were seated in a semi-private outdoor bamboo 'room' that was a big hit with our group. Very special. But we found the food program uneven. Some things really hit, others not so... More

The Ranch House was once a great foodie destination -- I came and loved it about 5 years ago. However, on a recent trip I dropped by and was very disappointed. I'm guessing there are new owners or a new chef, but it's nowhere near what it once was. The location is superb, and it has beautiful gardens and scenery.... More
