On the way home from San Francisco we decided to eat at St. Michael's at the suggestion of friends we were with. Called up on the way and got reservations. Loved every part of my meal. Intimate but not crowded tables. A very good menu and excellent service. Unfortunately, three of us had the "sea bass," which was delicious, so... More

The environment and staff of St. Michaels Alley are very good, but the food isn't. I visited this restaurant recently for a business event. I'd been there a couple of years earlier and had hoped we'd go somewhere else since that visit left me with the impression of mediocrity. But since it wasn't my decision, I decided that it had... Disappointing dinner on a Tuesday;maybe the B-team was there. Leaden pasta that had little flavor and needed a knife to cut it. A shrimp toast that looked really forlorn sitting on its plate with just a few paper-thin slices of lime to dress it up. And a waiter with an attitude. I have really liked this place in the past... It had been ages since we last went to SMA - and somehow we kept going to new places or the ones right in downtown. Four of us went: food was excellent all-round, across appetizers, entrees and desserts; wine list is much better-priced than most; service was efficient and friendly. Restaurant was busy and alive but somehow quiet enough so... More

St Mike's has wonderful food, very good service, a lovely subdued ambiance, and a noise level that encourages conversation. The menu is not same old, same old; but neither is it pushing ingredients you never heard of prepared in a manner you never heard of.

This restaurant is well established with consistently fine, fresh food, fair prices and a nice quiet atmosphere. Service is right on, not too much but waitstaff and bus staff know when and how to do their jobs. Menus feature seasonal vegetables. Nothing is too adventurous but you can always expect high quality here.

First i would like to say that if you intend to go there for lunch make sure you have a reservation otherwise you will have to sit at the bar not because they are booked in the back room but not sure what the reason was as very few people were in the back room. The food was average really... More

One of our favorite restaurants in Palo Alto. It is tucked off the main drag, but well worth a visit. Their focus is on really tasty seasonal cuisine (always have 5-6 specials) which are very creatively prepared. This time we had the asparagus salad, swordfish, and rhubarb tart. Portions are just the right size too.
