We selected The Fish Market to have a pleasant dinner. It was a week night and quiet enough to have conversation. The service was reasonable, but the food wasn' very good. Just judging from the shrimp entree and cioppino we had, I would not go back.

Great food and service and a really good deal for Happy Hour ! You need to get there early to get a seat at the popular bar !

When I am in Palo Alto (which is often lately) no question, if you like fish or shellfish - their is no better place to go. I have gone here several times, tried each different menu item and it is perfectly fresh each time. Only way besides catching it yourself, scaling it (yourself or watch someone do it), then "steam,... More

We used to eat here years ago and enjoyed the food. When we went for lunch recently we ordered New England clam chowder and crab cakes. The chowder flavor was disappointing and there was a scarcity of clams. The crab cakes flavor and texture was also disappointing.

Four of us had a great experience. Host/manager was great. Service was excellent. Chipino was unique, but better than San Francisco. Highly recommended.

We went there to celebrate my husband's birthday. He's one of the gray-hairs mentioned in other reviews, so we thought we'd take advantage of the early bird specials. Bad idea. The food was barely warm and the service as lackadaisical, he must have been saving himself for the "real" customers coming in later. We had very good experiences at The... More

Called in here on my first night in Palo Alto, great food, a little expensive and being a solo traveller I was placed with all the other solo diners in a bit of a forlorn table row right beside by the checkout desk but the class made it worth it!

I was a little reluctant to try this resturant as anoter reviewer said the food was bland. I do like spicy and unique food, and although it was rather plain, the flavor was good. Loved the veggies and potatoe side. Resutruant was busy, but service was friendly and efficient. Severing size was ample.

I have never been to a Fish Market restaurant, but I loved it. I had the calamari which was melt in your mouth delicious. I would definitely return. We all all had different entrees and loved what we chose. Portions are generous.

Description
Our first restaurant has been a Palo Alto institution since its doors opened in 1976. With the brand new addition of an oyster bar, cocktail bar and lounge area, there are now even more ways to experience this unique restaurant. The expansive retail market remains a popular stop for local residents seeking to take home the finest in fresh fish.
