Tasty food made onsite. Good coffee! Closes at 4 pm. Convenient parking. Seating inside or outback in a nice somewhat treed area.

My wife and I stopped here for lunch after spending the morning at the observatory. It is a woodsy, rustic place. You order at the window and they bring your food to you. The menu consists of sandwiches, soups and Mexican fare. My wife had...More

This was a delightful find on our way back from a tour of the Palomar Observatory. We found heathy options for meals (plenty of vegan options), the service was friendly, and we loved eating outside in the warm Autumn sunshine. I had the vegetarian wrap...More

Staying on a mountain top meant local amenities were limited but there is a lovely little cluster of buildings with a cafe, general store and post office. Mother's kitchen serves a great selection of home cooked food and drinks (free refills) and the staff were...More

We had the tacos and they were delicious. Thank you, Mother's! We'll be back to try every item on your menu, I'm sure! There's a breakfast sandwich with avocado that looks like a winner. Everything on the menu looks great.

Stopped here on the way to the observatory. At the initial stop, breakfast was fine. But on the return for lunch - disappointed. This place is seriously vegetarian with no meat options whatsoever. So your burger is a garden burger and the chile is almost...More

Eat good food in a relaxed, rustic setting far from the sameness of the CA valleys and coast. Nice friendly staff to boot!

Got me some french toast with cheese and Coke for $7. Sat in shadow on the back of the restaurant among huge trees. Very peaceful.

We stopped here during our motorcycle tour of the area, and it was a worthwhile stop. Very friendly service, and friendly to transients like us who were just passing through. The food was good, although vegetarian with a limited menu. Coincidentally there was a Corvette...More

Google maps shows the restaurant at about 5250'. I could not find "Palomar state park campground" specifically.
