I think that this is one of the best Mexican food restaurants I have ever eaten at. We always have great, friendly service.

Food is always great, Traditional Mexican. They make great chili Rellanos. Worth a visit. When the weather is nice you can sit outside.

El Rey is a very popular restaurant because the food is excellent and the staff is very pleasant! The portions are very large and the margaritas are awesome! They have a lovely patio also to dine in! If you find yourself headed to a casino in the backcountry of San Diego you should eat at El Rey instead of the... More

My friend and I drove drove Oceanside to Pauma Valley just to eat at this restaurant. El Rey has the friendliest staff and has a great Mexican food menu. I have written about them before but the food is so good that I felt like writing again. Go there, sit in the patio and enjoy yourself, the food, the drinks... More

We have ridden by this place numerous times going out to Julian, but never stopped. Today we did and were glad we did. Like many places in SoCal the outside can be deceiving and not reflect what is hidden behind the doors. This place was no exception. From the outside it doesn't look like much. The sign is small and... More

My friend and I have eaten here for lunch at least five times so far. Today we traveled from the San Diego Zoo Safari Park just to eat there. The Mexican food is hot, tasty, authentic and the prices are good. I recommend this restaurant and the area is a beautiful valley which is worth the drive from Riverside or... More

I'm very picky about my Mexican food it's like home cooking it's worth the drive. The food is just absolutely out of this world authentic, the staff is kind and courteous and very welcoming you feel like you're at home. In the winter time they have a fabulous fireplace roaring. I try to go at least 3 times a month... More

My wife and I stayed at the Lazy H Motel and decided to try the El Rey Mexican Restaurant. We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast. I had the Huevos Rancheros. This dish was excellent. Rather than the usual red sauce that most places use to cover your eggs, El Rey uses a wonderful Salsa Verde. The eggs were topped over 2... More
