Restaurant is on the second floor which affords a better view. Felt like appetizers so ordered the crab cakes, calamari, BBQ oysters and a cup of chowder. The oysters were a disaster soaked in rib sauce. Calamari was edible. Had to fight off flies during...More

My mother, husband, and I drove the Pacific Coast Highway from San Francisco to Eureka. We got to Point Arena around lunchtime and stopped at the Pier Chowder House, hoping for some good seafood. Unfortunately, they were out of Ling cod (which my husband ordered)...More

We arrived in Point Arena for one evening. The Chowder House seemed to be the only game in town, so we weren't expecting much, but were pleasantly surprised. It was a beautiful evening, so we opted to dine on the terrace and watch the sunset....More

We went to The Pier Chowder House on a Monday for lunch while visiting The Sea Ranch. Surprise! The restaurant was SO BUSY, but the two waiters handled everyone beautifully. The clam chowder was yummy and HOT. Our lunches were outstanding. We were so pleased...More

There were 2 special chowders available: a chorizo clam chowder and a Thai chicken chowder. Both were delicious. We followed it up with the seared scallops and they were tender and juicy with a parmesan crust. The wait staff was courteous and friendly. The wine...More

Great food! Pan seared scallops were delicious - the best meal I've had on our trip to northern California coast. My wife said the crab cakes were great. Restaurant was way off Hwy 1, but worth the extra 5 minute drive. Loved the Pacific view....More

The place was busy. But offerings in Point Arena are a bit limited. We ordered calamari which was very basic. Thai chowder which was a complete disappointment and the mind power salad which was just ok.

The views from the deck outside the restaurant was terrific. We had the crab cake appetizer, salmon and bread pudding for desert. The crab was particularly good, salmon was slightly overlooked. Prices for beer and wine were really good.

Stopped in here for some Clam Chowder to go after fishing on the pier. Kind of pricey, 2 bowls was $20. We ordered one of each, New England & Chorizo Manhattan. The Manhattan was very good, but the NE was average at best.

Hello, Wharf Masters Inn. My husband and I have been frequent guests in the past. The last time we visited was for our wedding anniversary in November 2012 or 2013. We stayed in the top room closest to the ocean. A maintenance crew fixing a leaky roof in that area didn't know that room was occupied, came down from the roof onto our balcony, and caught me standing there looking out the glass doors nude. The Innkeeper at the time - an elderly man, and what a wonderful character! - gave us a certificate for a free night in the same room with no expiration date. I still have the certificate (somewhere). My husband's birthday is coming up and we'd like to get away for a night or two between 10/2 and 10/4. I'm wondering if the certificate I have will still be honored. I'm disabled, so we will need an ADA room, hopefully with a balcony and an excellent ocean view. Please let me know if you can accommodate us that weekend and if you will honor my free stay certificate. Thanks, -Helen Dr. Helen E. Wilbur (Mrs. Mitchell Stegner)

In California state Law says that a certificate for which something was paid, never expires. For examplease "pay $20 towards a $50 meal" the twenty dollars would still be honored after the expiration date. If it was just a... More
