After facing the excruciatingly long wait time at Zeni I decided to try another Ethopian place in San Jose. Yelp threw up Walia Ethiopian Cuisine with good ratings so I decided to give it a try. It also had the added advantage of being able to order ahead so I went ahead and got what I generally get at Ethiopian... More

The food was great for the price, ambience not so great. The restuarant is very small and is almost claustrophobic. Also there was a homeless drunk guy who kept coming in the restuarant. Definitely not a place for family dinners. I would think twice before going.

There are many Ethiopian restaurants in the Bay Area, and I've been to a lot of them. I love most of them, but I think Walia is a cut above the rest. You can tell that they are a family run operation, and they really care about their food and their customers. The vegetarian platter is excellent, and their Gomen... More

Ordered in trough Uber Eats. I ordered the vegetarian platter, and it was just ok. I have definitely had better Ethiopian food.

All the items we tried were good but a little more on the oily side but this is Ethiopian and to be expected. The service is a little slow so either come in early or give some extra time if you are here for lunch during week days.

It was my first time experience at an Ethiopian restaurant. Limited vegetarian options but I liked the food. Heard it is usually crowded but we managed to get seats almost immediately. Good, friendly service too!

I happened to visit 'Walia Ethiopian Cuisine' yesterday, thanks to my dear friend Abhishek who has been in California for last two years, was a great host fro the entire day and YES, certainly knows the best eateries in the state. We had been travelling throughout the day and the day could not have ended better, but by visiting an... More

We chose to go to Walia looking at the great reviews. It did not disappoint us. We had the chechebsa for appetizers , it resembles Samosas but filled with lentils. They tasted good. Our entree was the veggie combo where they serve a bit of all vegetarian dishes on a large plate on top of the injera. Everything tasted good,... More

The restaurant serves authentic Ethiopian cuisine which is very nutritious and of good quality. The style of presentation and sharing is fairly unique and interesting. The quality of service adds to a memorable experience. The prices are reasonable.

I've ordered both vegetarian and meat dishes and I cannot complain. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is enjoyable, and the staff is great. I had never had Ethiopian food before but it has quickly become one of my favorites.
