Old style cafe with booths & counter. Decor is simple and friendly. My husband and I both had the Huevos Rancheros for breakfast, it was excellent. Great location to start exploring San Juan Bautista and it's historical Old Mission.

Perfectly good ‘diner’ for simple food and friendly service. Convenient for visiting this small town that feels like time stood still. There’s more to see than just the excellen authentic and informative Mission itself.

This place is a rarity now in California. A genuine locals diner that looks the part, and delivers meals that are high on volume. This is not haute cuisine - and even by diner standards its relatively uninspiring fare. But that's not why you go...More

We were passing through on our way east from Monterey, and found Mission Cafe for a breakfast stop. I had an omelet with home fries. The eggs were delicious and fresh, as were all of the ingredients: chorizo, tomatoes, onions, peppers, and avocado. The home...More

For the only diner in town it is pretty decent. Service is good. I would recommend the homemade corned beef and eggs. My only complaint is the decor. There is no theme for this diner. Be creative! Customers want an experience they will remember.

An initialed tile in the checkered floor says "1919," so that makes it a classic. Breakfast and lunch, soda counter, booths and tables. Retro cafe that retains its neighborhood feel. Good food, healthy portions, reasonable prices. In a charming, old California mission town, too. Come...More

Great food, home made, excellent quality. We need more places like this! When you go in hungry you leave with a full tummy! Everything there is great! French toast is to die for, and the bacon is done right and is not paper thin!

We ate here after visiting the adjacent state park. The food was far better than the average lunch stop- just really high quality ingredients and well-prepared food. The fries were not encased in salt, hurrah! The burger was cooked just as ordered. Simple food, but...More

I left Hungry. The eggs were done perfectly. I rarely can afford to eat out. My time was limited to 45 minutes as I had an appointment in the next hour. I asked for a rare to med rare steak and eggs. The waitress seemed...More

Love the look of this place, very 1950s soda fountain. Having said that, the breakfast here was just so so. The huevos rancheros were nothing to write home about, although the pork sausage was excellent. But maybe the only place in town for breakfast, so...More
