My husband and I stumbled upon this place. I'm so glad we did. We had the pulled pork sandwich with BBQ sauce and fries. It was delicious! We sat at a table by the creek, it was so pretty

Considering it was Cal Poly Open House weekend; I was able to order, sit down and have a good meal in about 35 minutes. Parking lot was full, but one time around the block and I got a meter. The Chef Salad with Tri- Tip was very good, after about 10 minute order line wait. I hope to return to... More

We wandered in with some modest hope of good BBQ. However, BBQ expectations are very regional and our original frame of reference is mostly Central Texas brisket and ribs. California BBQ is a different idea. I had the pulled pork plate, garlic bread and sweet potato fries (ask out of the cole slaw). OK, but nothing exceptional. My wife had... More

I was drawn to the large number of positive reviews. The location was easily located with limited parking. Notable long lines were present. The interior area provided seating for dining and decor like a cantina some outdoor seating was available. Ordered the Pit plate with pulled pork with regular sweet potato fries and root beer float. Portion size and pulled... More

Old San Luis BBQ is a very casual eatery with great food. We love their tri-tip sandwiches and tri-tip sliders - especially the BBQ sauce! The strawberry fields salad is delicious. This is a fun place to eat a tri-tip sandwich by the creek or in their casual dining room. The staff are helpful and friendly. Some of the other... More

I read reviews and thought this would be a great place to eat. The tri tip was kind of dry and lacked flavor. The fries were overcooked and more like potato chips.

Good food that takes a while to cook, so not as fast food as some. There are places to sit just outside near the river, and also a spacious dining room inside, complete with bathrooms. Food (pulled pork and special cole slaw) was good. My wife and I shared one sandwich and one side for lunch. Root beer served was... More

Stopped here on the way to Morro bay from LA at around 9.30pm and food and service was great for an amazing price! Inside area shuts at 9.30pm but outside they have seating too. Pulled pork is amazing and so are the sweet potato fries 🍟

I know they're a Tri tip BBQ place but I was unprepared for how delish the chocolate shake was. Tried the corn pie for the first time and was pleasantly surprised - it's a tasty combination of cheese and corn in a sort of casserole. The garlic bread is sublime and really decent French fries too. The main event, the... More

Old San Luis BBQ serves up some really delicious (and seriously well priced) BBQ, and all in a cool, industrial, slightly-hipster, student-friendly space. Good fun all round. And, when reflecting on our entire three-week road trip, this is one of the meals (even though it was relaxed, quick and pretty fast foody) that we recall with great affection. Looking forward...
