We had not visited this restaurant for 2 years after a previously excellent meal. What we had loved about the place was the interesting layering of many flavours within the one dish. The chief seemed to be able to keep unusual pairings of spices and...More

We came here for my birthday dinner with my husband on a friend's recommendation. The restaurant location was a bit awkward, the neighborhood seemed a little shabby - not somewhere you would expect a Michelin star restaurant to be and we were wondering if we...More

While the restaurant name and the chef's name might suggest Indian, as many have pointed out don't go to this restaurant expecting premium Indian food. In fact, it seems that the restaurant has evolved and now describes itself as "new American exotic". We had the...More

Cute secluded restaurant located between busy commercial and residential street, friendly staff and good food execution with plenty vegetarian choices.

There is definitely a reason this restaurant earned one Michelin Star. Each of the dishes is unique and contains pieces of heaven. As always with these kind of dishes it is not so much of the quantity but more of the quality. Although it is...More

Did you know that there is a Michelin starred restaurant in San Mateo? It's located in an attractive 1906 Victorian house nestled behind other buildings fronting on El Camino Real just across the street from Safeway. Frankly I had never seen the restaurant before going...More

We have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. In fact, the meals here have been some of our most memorable dining experiences ever. The restaurant is located in a clapboard house tucked away from El Camino Real and the ambience is very...More

The food here is not as Indian as it was during my meal several years ago. Then it was too Indian for the work group. Ha! This time, basically the same guys and gals, but the menu was definitely more fusion and all left happy....More

This is very pricey and not what we had expected. Our sons gave us a $100 gift certificate and we had another $100 to the bill. Just one glass of wine. The service was impeccable and the meal was very good. This is not an...More

Has been our go to place for special occasions. An intimate venue which is often booked up for days in advance. It's a cross between continental and Indian Fusion food. Meets my bang/buck ratio easily.

San Mateo’s most exciting restaurant is All Spice, an eclectic, contemporary eatery from Executive Chef Sachin Chopra. Chef Chopra expertly blends the freshness of Californian ingredients with Indian spices to create an entirely new style of cuisine, at once light, familiar and warmly exotic. All Spice is proud to have been awarded a Michelin star, a distinction reserved for cuisine of the very best quality and consistency. The restaurant is housed in a converted Victorian with beautiful hardwood floors, a fireplace and a variety of architectural details. Each of three intimate dining rooms is decorated in bold, shimmering hues accented with gold. Thirty seats are scattered throughout. Professional service and a thoughtful, moderately priced wine list complement Chopra's dishes. To book reservations for parties of 5 or more, please call the restaurant directly.
