Not as posh as some of the other places on the pier but great food. Best bread bowl clam Chowder I had and good fish and chips too. Even a nice cocktail. Good view out to sea

This place is always a must whenever we are in Santa Cruz. We always go for the claim chowder and the view from the restaurant is awesome. You are right on the water!
Popped in for a light lunch at Woodies Cafe while visiting the Santa Cruz Wharf. The selection was varied and the food was made fresh albeit the service a little slow. It is adjacent and attached to a sit-down restaurant and I suspect they share...More
Don't waste your money here. The burger was tiny, the bun was hard, the fries were terrible. My son's grilled cheese was hard on the outside and the cheese wasn't even melted on the inside. Three of us spent $55 and we didn't even have...More
Unfortunate, to be sure.
Had a large group- that was the only difficult part for us. We ended up splitting into several small groups for ordering and seating. The place was hopping on a Sunny Sunday afternoon. They ran out of 'buzzers' to call when your food was ready-...More
Stelladear, We love serving large groups like yours. Thrilled to read we were up to the challenge of making everybody happy. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this. Hope to see your large group, or even just you, again very soon.
We only had a few hours to stop in Santa Cruz on a marathon coastal trip from LA to Wine Country. We loved checking out all of the wharves along the way, and this one was on our list. It was dinner time and thanks...More
RCS Columbus. Thank you for the 4 Stars. Yes, as you noted, we do reply to every review, and let me also say, yours is especially fun to read. How could your marathon coastal trip from LA to Wine Country, including checking out all the...More
The first day arriving in Santa Cruz we found ourselves walking down the wharf looking for food. Woodies seemed like it had a bit of everything for our big group. After that first day, almost every place we ate we compared it to Woodies and...More
4 times in one week at Woodies! We love it, love it, love it, love it. HOORAY.
We returned to Woodies Cafe because we enjoyed the clam chowder (5 years prior). On this visit, it was hot and soup did not sound refreshing. My husband and I ordered the fish tacos, which come with beans and rice. The fish was fresh with...More
We're very happy to read all of the entrees you ordered scored high marks, and earned us 5 Stars. Please make the drive from SF again soon. And maybe next time it won't be so hot and you can order the clam chowder you so...More
This place is nice with views of the water. Very nice menu and reasonably priced. The portions are average size and staff friendly.
Rocky, Happy you chose Woodies while strolling the Wharf. Really nice review: Short and to the point. Hope you'll visit us again.
Easy to order at the counter and then find seating with an ocean and coast view. Reasonable prices for the area and for the view. Tried the garlic fries which must be a bit of a local specialty. Also had them at the Giants game....More
Tim, Glad both the Giants and Woodies were able to hit a home run with the garlic fries. We strive to be high end fast food, and judging from the 5 stars, it looks like we accomplished that for you. Thanks!
