This was not even average - especially at the price-point. Only positives were that it was to clean and the staff were helpful. Other than that - the wine selection was extremely limited and included few local or even US options. The food was dreadful...More

Soif means thirst in French, and the food we ordered seemed designed to promote it. The fritters were laden with Moroccan-type spices, and salty. Nuts were good, but nothing special. Hard to put together a meal from the limited choices, and the sausages we ordered...More

Lolling around on a rainy Easter Sunday, when an idea popped up: "Let's go out for a drink!" Thought we'd try Soif, as we've eaten there many a time and always enjoyed. Now they've got a full bar, so it's more than just their wonderful...More

This place is a great spot & something different for locals. More of a San Francisco vibe with it's high ceiling/ warehouse vibe. Kitchen offers unique and wonderful choices. Not big menu, but everything done well. Especially love the wine flight options. Unique list &...More

I rate things based on value, ie do I get value in service, product, etc for the price I pay. The price is not important the value is. In this case I paid about $100 for my wife and I to have a glass of...More

This restaurant is one of our SC faves even though the meals are small. It can be hit or miss, but this time it was very good. The apps were excellent-oysters, Brussels & cheeses..... My fish- the halibut & shellfish, was a small but was...More

Soif has got to be the Michelin star resto of Santa Cruz City. Impeccable wine list thats paired with marvelously prepared entrees and starters. We even had a drink at the bar which is attached to restaurant. Wonderful bartender and a well crafted drink called...More

This review is long overdue. I have been visiting Soif for about 6 years. The staff has always been amazing, especially John and Alissa! They get to know the types of wine you like and make impeccable selections specialized to your taste. Their is nowhere...More

This place has one of the best selections of German and Austrian wines I've seen in the US (to purchase on the wine merchant side). Good Italian choices too. Surprisingly small selection of Californian but a knowledgable staff member who could offer good guidance. Interesting...More

Description
Great Food & Wine in Downtown Santa Cruz
Since opening, our goal has been to provide a comfortable place to drink great wine and eat food that is as good as the wine, and then, if the wine is to your liking, to be able to buy some and take it home. We want wines that are usually a challenge to find: reflective of their origin, expressive of the vineyard and the vintage and the traditions of their region, wines that are not a commodity, but limited and handmade, wines of great provenance and flavor.

For us, the fun is in finding the wines, sourcing and making the delicious, wholesome food, and then putting it all together so when our guests walk through the door, night after day, there is something here for them that is real, that satisfies their thirst for the soulful, the delicious, and the well made.
