My husband and I have been frequenting Hi Hat for many years. It's changed hands in the last couple of years but the quality of the food has remained superb. We eat breakfast there every weekend and supper on Friday nights. Haven't had a bad meal there.

If the A1 Diner is too busy continue north a short distance. Good basic food and low prices. Breakfast is the best.

Just south of Augusta, this former drive-in makes delicious pancakes in a variety of flavors. I had the pecan/cranberry/apple ones. Their unique way of embedding the ingredients works very well. And you can specify real maple syrup! The only way to go!

This restaurant is wonderful- a great place to eat breakfast all day long or enjoy one of their many lunch specials. Everything is spectacular.

Had a well cooked breakfast, hash, tost eggs and bacon. It was decent but i dont think i have ever seen eggs so small. Eggs should be at least large eggs, difference is pennies but im sure the customers would appreciate it. I know i would.

Older sit down restaurant. Had an omelet, hash browns, coffee. Service was very good, took half of breakfast home for the next day. Good food, served relatively quickly. Wife had the breakfast sandwich, brought half home. Had not been there in a long time but will go back soon.

When I was a kid more than a half-century ago, the Hi-Hat was called Ernie's, and it was a drive-in where you ate in your car, with carhop waitresses. The drive-in structure is still as it was, but now you eat inside. The room is a no-decor, down-home kind of place serving simple fare and fried seafood dishes, too. My... More

Earlier this Spring, the Hi-Hat unveiled plans to serve dinner on Friday and Saturday nights this summer and things got off to a rousing start -- prompting us to write a rather positive review. Since then, a bit of reality has set in, prompting this second review with toned-down praise (and expectations). We have purposely been in every weekend since... More

I had to send my Reuben back because the scanty corned beef was so tough and full of fat and gristle I could not chew it. I did get comped with a chicken salad sandwich, but I had to take my rubber corned beef to the counter because our waitress was off being random and unproductive. Mother did not want... More

The Hi-Hat has been a local fixture since at least the 1960's... Nothing fancy or pretentious here. No tablecloths or candlelight. Yes, as others have noted, the place sometimes shows its age a bit... in a variety of ways. But it's also one of the few places in the local area where you can still get a meat-potato-veggie meal for... More
